**Isla's POV **The palace was quiet in the early morning, the usual hustle of preparations and strategy discussions fading into a temporary lull. It was the first moment of calm Isla had felt in days, but the quiet only made the weight of what was coming press down harder on her chest.
She stood by the large window in her quarters, watching as the first rays of sunlight stretched across the horizon, bathing the palace grounds in soft gold. The warmth of the sunlight did little to ease the chill that had settled deep in her bones. War was coming, and no amount of light could change that.
Her fingers lightly touched the pendant around her neck-a small silver charm her aunt had given her as a child. It was the last physical connection she had to Selene, and as the days passed, the fear of losing her aunt grew stronger. Malachi had her. Kian was torn between two worlds. And the fate of their family-and their pack-hung in the balance.
There was a knock at the door, breaking her from her thoughts. Isla turned, already knowing who it would be.
"Come in," she called softly.
The door creaked open, and Damian stepped inside. His dark hair was slightly tousled, and his golden eyes held a quiet determination. But beneath the strength, Isla could see the exhaustion etched into his features. They were both running on empty, and the battle hadn't even begun.
"You should rest," Damian said, his voice low as he crossed the room to stand beside her. "We don't know when Malachi will strike, but it's coming."
"I can't rest," Isla admitted, turning back to look out the window. "Not when there's so much at stake."
Damian's hand found hers, his touch warm and grounding. "We're going to find Selene. We're going to stop Kian and Malachi. You don't have to carry this weight alone."
Isla nodded, though the tightness in her chest didn't ease. She wanted to believe Damian, wanted to believe that everything would turn out okay. But the uncertainty of it all gnawed at her, leaving her feeling helpless.
"Luca said my powers are tied to Kian's," Isla said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. "I can feel him, Damian. He's struggling. But I don't know if I can reach him. I don't know if I can save him."
Damian's grip on her hand tightened slightly. "You will. Kian's not lost yet. You're stronger than you think, Isla. You've unlocked your power, and now you're in control. But you have to believe in yourself. You have to believe you can save him."
Isla closed her eyes, trying to push away the doubts that swirled in her mind. She wanted to save Kian, but Malachi's influence was so strong, so deep. What if she couldn't break through? What if, in trying to save him, she lost herself?
"I'm afraid," she admitted softly, her voice trembling. "What if I can't do it? What if I'm not enough?"
Damian turned her to face him, his golden eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that sent a shiver down her spine.
"You are enough," he said firmly, his voice filled with conviction. "You've always been enough, Isla. And no matter what happens, I'm with you. We'll fight this together."
Isla's heart swelled with emotion, the warmth of his words easing some of the fear that had taken root inside her. She nodded, her hand tightening around his. "I'm with you."
For a moment, they stood there in silence, the weight of everything unsaid hanging between them. But it was a comfortable silence, filled with unspoken understanding. They had each other. No matter what, they would face this together.

**Kian's POV **
The camp was eerily quiet as Kian stood at the edge of the cliff, looking out over the forest below. The wind tugged at his cloak, the cold air biting at his skin, but he barely noticed. His mind was elsewhere-locked in the constant battle raging inside him.
He had felt Isla's power again, felt the surge of energy through their bond as she continued to grow stronger. It should have angered him, should have made him focus on Malachi's plan, but instead, it only deepened the conflict inside him.
"Thinking about her again?" Liora's voice pulled him from his thoughts.
Kian turned to see her standing a few feet away, her arms crossed as she studied him. There was no accusation in her tone, but her eyes held a quiet understanding. She had seen the way he had been struggling, the way his connection to Isla had been affecting him.
"She's my twin," Kian said quietly, his gaze returning to the horizon. "I can't just shut that off."
Liora stepped closer, her voice soft but firm. "But she's also the enemy now, Kian. She's standing between us and everything Malachi has promised. You have to stay focused."
Kian clenched his fists at his sides, his jaw tightening. "I know."
But even as he said the words, doubt gnawed at him. Could he really do it? Could he fight Isla, knowing what it would cost? He had followed Malachi's orders for years, had believed in the cause, in the need to fight for those who had been abandoned and cast aside. But now, everything felt... wrong.
The outcasts had been saved by Malachi, rescued from a world that had rejected them. But what kind of future would they have if it was built on destruction?
Before he could dwell on it further, Valen approached, his expression unreadable. "We need to gather the others. Malachi is preparing to move. The battle is coming."
Kian nodded, his stomach twisting with dread. "I'll be ready."
Valen studied him for a moment, his sharp eyes narrowing slightly. "You'd better be. Malachi is counting on you."
As Valen turned and left, Kian stood there for a moment longer, his mind churning with conflict. He wasn't sure whose side he was truly on anymore. Isla was his sister, his blood. But the outcasts were his people too. And Malachi had saved them all.
With a deep breath, Kian turned and headed back to the camp, his heart heavy with the weight of the choices he would have to make.

**Harper's POV **
Back at Blackwood Ridge, Harper moved quickly through the pack grounds, her mind focused on the task at hand. The warriors had gathered, the children had been taken to the **Garden of Whispering Trees**, and the final strategies were being put into place.
But there was still so much to do, so much that needed to be coordinated. The weight of responsibility pressed down on Harper's shoulders, but she didn't let it slow her down. She had always been the one to handle the logistics, the one to keep things running smoothly. This was no different.
"Harper," Marcus's voice called out from behind her, and she turned to see him jogging toward her. His expression was serious, but there was a spark of determination in his eyes. "The other packs are starting to arrive. We're finalizing the defense lines."
Harper nodded, her mind already running through the next steps. "Good. We need to make sure the eastern border is secured. That's our most vulnerable point."
Marcus grinned, his eyes gleaming with admiration. "You're really good at this, you know."
Harper rolled her eyes, though a small smile tugged at her lips. "Someone has to keep you all in line."
"Lucky for us, you're the best person for the job," Marcus said with a wink.
But despite his lighthearted words, Harper could see the worry lingering behind his eyes. They were all scared, all worried about what was coming. But they didn't have the luxury of falling apart. Not now.
"Let's make sure we're ready," Harper said, her voice firm. "We can't afford to make any mistakes."
Marcus nodded, his expression sobering. "We'll be ready. Whatever happens, we'll be ready."
As Harper turned back toward the pack house, her heart heavy with the weight of the upcoming battle, she couldn't help but think of Isla. They had been through so much together, had faced countless challenges. But this... this was something else entirely.
The storm was coming. And they had to be prepared for whatever it brought.
