The morning light poured through the windows of Eva's kitchen, casting a soft glow on the group of girls bustling around. Noora stood at the stove, expertly flipping pancakes in a warm, cozy atmosphere. Chris was beside her, humorously struggling with the task of making more batter, while Sana, ever focused, diligently cut up fresh fruit. Victoria moved quietly, setting the table, her mind still half-asleep from last night's whirlwind of events. Eva, sat on the sink, simply watched, grateful for the lively presence of her friends.

"You kept pushing me out of bed," – Sana said with a mock glare. – "You pulled away my comforter like ten times!"

"It was cold!" – Victoria laughed, trying to defend herself. She had managed to secure a spot in the middle of the bed last night, safely avoiding the corners where Sana and Noora had been forced to contend with blanket thieves.

"Yeah, I know!" – Sana shot back, her eyes narrowing playfully.

"Sorry..." – Victoria said sheepishly, finishing setting the table, before glancing at Eva. – "Is your mom never home?"

Eva shrugged. – "She is, but ever since she got that job at the Ministry of Environment, she's been traveling a lot. So, she's home maybe every other week."

Chris looked up from her batter, intrigued. – "You're home alone a lot! Isn't that cool?"

Eva smiled slightly. – "Yeah, it's pretty cool. I can do whatever I want."

"Where's your dad?" – Noora asked cautiously, flipping another pancake with casual grace.

"He lives in Bergen," – Eva replied nonchalantly, though Victoria's ears perked up at the mention of her hometown.

"Oh, I'm from Bergen!" – Victoria chirped excitedly, thrilled to share a piece of herself.

Chris, in a flurry of distraction, dropped an egg on the floor. – "Chris, you get to clean that up!" – Eva said with a laugh, though her tone was serious.

"Yeah, yeah..." – Chris grinned as she bent down to mop up the mess.

Eva continued, her voice softening. – "My dad lives in Bergen with his new wife. We lost contact a bit when we moved here. His wife... she was a bit jealous, I guess."

The kitchen, buzzing moments ago, fell into a more thoughtful silence as the girls digested Eva's words. Just then, Vilde wandered into the room, looking a bit dazed. Her face was pale, and she seemed slightly disoriented. The girls greeted her warmly, trying to put her at ease.

"We made breakfast," – Eva said, hopping off the sink, causing Victoria to chuckle. Eva hadn't helped much, but her enthusiasm was infectious.

"Noora made pancakes," – Chris chimed in proudly.
