Monday morning, the whole school seemed to be talking about the same subject—the fight between the Yakuza guys and the Penetrators that happened Friday night. Victoria shifted uncomfortably as she listened to Vilde recount the situation, the suspicion that Lucas might have been involved only growing. They hadn't texted each other since Friday, adding to her doubts.

"...and then I wrote: 'Heard there was a fight on Friday. Are you okay?'" – Vilde explained to the girls, recounting her messages to William. – "He didn't answer, so I got really worried something had happened to him."

"I heard that he wasn't even there," – Eva interjected.

"Who told you that?" – Vilde asked, looking confused.

"I was talking to Iben, and she said it was only Chris, Lucas, and a few others who were there," – Eva replied. Victoria sighed, not obviously, but feeling a wave of disappointment as she realized this was likely why Lucas had ended their date early. – "It was unfair, though, because there were like twenty Yakuza guys. I heard they were looking for William, but he wasn't there. So they were beaten up, while William was at home...well, apparently with some girl."

"What girl?" – Vilde asked, sounding hurt.

      "It's just a rumor. I don't know if it's true," – Eva said quickly.

"But what did William reply?" – Chris asked, trying to shift the focus.

"He didn't reply right away, so I texted him, 'William, please answer, so I know you're alive? I'm really worried about you.'" – Vilde read her messages aloud. – "Then he replied at half-past eleven: 'Alive, I'm alive.'"

"Has anyone seen them since?" – Eva asked. Victoria shook her head no.

"No, they're not at school today. I heard Chris is still in the hospital," – Vilde added.

"Isn't that William's car?" – Sana pointed to a car pulling up near the patio.

William parked, and several Penetrators got out. The whole school seemed to be staring at them. Chris's eyes were heavily bruised, and he had cuts on his face, as did a few other members of the group. William looked unscathed, with no bruises or cuts. But when Victoria's eyes landed on Lucas, her chest tightened. His lip was bruised, and his knuckles were raw—clear evidence of a fight. Their eyes met briefly, and Victoria gave him a slight nod of disapproval before looking away. She couldn't believe this was his way of showing he was different from his friends. Especially after the 'one chance' she gave him to prove himself.

"Did Iben say anything else about the girl William was with?" – Vilde asked, pulling Victoria back to the conversation, though her mind was still on Lucas and what his involvement really meant.
