i knew there was something strange about her
s2 - ep4
_________________The crisp, biting air filled their lungs as the six girls hiked through the snow-dusted paths lined with towering trees, finally on their Easter break journey to Chris's family cabin. Sana led the way, her hands gripping her backpack straps, while Vilde and Chris walked beside each other, the latter guiding them up the sloped ground. Behind them, Eva, Noora, and Victoria trailed a few steps back, tossing snowballs at each other and laughing as their breath puffed out in cold clouds.
"You said it was in Hemsedal!" - Vilde groaned, glancing down at her phone with a slight pout. - "According to Google Maps, it's an hour and a half past it. That's not exactly close!"
"It's shorter from Oslo to Hemsedal..." - Chris shrugged, unapologetic.
"Are you kidding me?" - Vilde sighed. - "What are we even going to do here? This place is in the middle of nowhere."
Ahead, Sana came to a sudden stop, making the others almost stumble into her. She squinted up the hill where a figure was faintly visible through the falling snow. - "Who's that?" - she murmured, as the girls instinctively huddled together, exchanging curious, slightly nervous glances before cautiously approaching.
"Hi!" - Chris called, her voice echoing slightly in the cold. The man turned to them-a tall, pale figure with eerily clear eyes that seemed to blend into the wintery landscape.
"I've made the cabin ready for you," - he said, his voice low and monotone.
"Uh... ready how?" - Chris managed, forcing a smile as the others looked on, a little spooked.
"The only thing is... the electricity is a bit... unstable," - he replied, his eyes unfocused as he looked past them. - "Just be careful."
"Do you help my grandma with the cabin?" - Chris asked, frowning.
"Yes," - he murmured.
"Right. Well, thanks." - Chris gave a small nod, ready to get away. The man didn't reply, only gave a slight nod, and turned back down the hill.
A few minutes later, the girls finally reached the cabin, a cozy little house nestled between the trees with a thin blanket of snow clinging to its roof. Inside, they unpacked and changed into warm, comfy clothes before gathering in the living room. Noora sat curled up with a book on the sofa, and Victoria snuggled beside her, lazily listening to the chatter around her. Vilde lay on Eva's lap, a glass of wine in hand, while Sana explored the cabin, inspecting every odd object she came across. Chris settled into an armchair, attempting to crochet.
"So he said, 'Vilde, you're really sweet, but I have to stop you,'" - Vilde said, her tone incredulous as she recounted her last conversation with William, and the reason she left the party early, without telling Victoria a thing. -"I asked, 'Is it because you like someone else?' and he just said, 'No, it's because I'm not interested.'"
