The following Monday, Noora, Eva and Victoria gathered in the school library under the guise of studying. In truth, most of their time was spent talking - especially about Eva's situation with Jonas, her boyfriend. Last Friday, Eva was supposed to introduce Jonas to her mother, but she'd completely forgotten and went to the pre party instead. Now, things between them felt tense.
"He doesn't want to talk about it, and he claims he's not pissed, but I don't believe that." – Eva muttered, absentmindedly clicking her pen.
"Maybe he's just pissed because he thinks you don't want him to meet your mom." – Noora suggested, leaning forward as rested her chin on her hand. Victoria nodded, doodling lazily in her notebook.
"Or maybe he thinks you're embarrassed of him." – Victoria added thoughtfully.
Eva's eyebrows furrowed. – "You really think so?"
"Just let him meet your mom." – Noora said matter-of-factly, flipping through her book. – "What's the big deal?"
Eva sighed, as if the weight of the world was on her shoulders. – "It's... a long story" – she trailed off, just as Vilde approached their table, startling Victoria out of her daydream.
"Just so you know, I told Chris to tell Sana that she can't be on our bus any longer." – Vilde announced, dropping into a chair next to Victoria.
"Why?" – Noora and Victoria asked simultaneously, both fed up with how Vilde treated Sana.
Vilde huffed dramatically, – "Hello?! She nearly ruined our entire social status, and I had to fix it." – Vilde continued, – "I had to explain to the Penetrator guys that we're not the kind of girls who create a lot of drama. We made a really bad impression."
Victoria rolled her eyes, unable to hide her irritation. "For all we know, it might not even have been Sana's fault?"
"Have you met Sana? She's incredibly rude." – Vilde snapped, exasperated.
Victoria bit back another eye roll, exchanging a look with Noora, who seemed equally tired of the conversation.
Eva crossed her arms. – "Well, Sara and Ingrid aren't the nicest people in the world either."
Vilde straightened up, clearly defensive. – "I know Sara and Ingrid really well, and they're not the kind of girls who start drama."
