"y/n! y/n!"

your heavy eyelids shot open. "oh–" you woke up and realized you were dreaming.

"you're finally awake! good morning!"

you saw lana's face so close to yours, you raised your head and looked around. "kaji?"

"morning, sleepyhead," he said, squatting down on the floor to be level with you sitting on a bench.

why is he here? "huh?"

"you said a while ago that kaji-kun would pick you up after dismissal," lana explained. "you fell asleep waiting though, and i didn't want to wake you up yet!"

"ohh...my bad!" you said, rubbing rhe back of your neck. you stood up, picking up your f/c school bag from the bench. "i didn't get a lot of sleep last night is probably why."

"well, i better be leaving now!" lana said, hiding her sneaky intention to leave you and kaji alone through an innocent smile on her face. "i have homework to do."

"ah, okay! byee, see you tomorrow!" you waved your hand as she skipped away, then turned to kaji.

"did you eat your recess?" he asked, beginning to walk away.

you followed him. "nope."

"i told you to stop skipping meals." he always did. whenever he insisted to pick you up from school even if you could easily walk to furin, he'd ask if you've eaten yet.

"haru and i went to the bookstore together to buy our math books, so i didn't have time to eat," you replied, walking by his side.

"you always say that. how's your arm?"

"it's fine. i know the doctors said to wait a week, but i couldn't," you said. "i'm gonna fail if i miss any more lessons. good thing lana and haru lent me their notes!"

kaji nodded, listening intently but keeping his eyes on the road. "just take it easy."

"okay~ oh, by the way, where are we going?" you asked, then pointed to another street. "furin's that way."

"let's stop by saboten bakery. the croissants there're your favorite, aren't they?"

"yeah...i'm paying, though, okay?" you said, claiming the bill early.

"sure."

you felt kaji's hand slip into yours silently, and you intertwined your fingers with his. "can i ask why you're...nicer to me today?"

"am i not allowed to be nice to you?" he answered. "you've been stuck at home for four days. i missed you."

at that, you turned your neck to look at his face. it showed no emotion. "hm. i missed you too," you said, looking back forward and swinging your arm along with kaji's as you walked.

"woahh! all of this is for us?" akemi asked. all of your second year classmates gathered around you and kaji, eyes shining.

"mmhm! aren't i such an amazing class secretary to get these for y'all?" you said proudly, holding up the plastic bag from saboten bakery.

"it was my idea though," kaji mumbled from behind you, another lollipop in his mouth. you were surprised he heard your conversation through the incredibly loud music playing from his headphones.

you began to distribute the breads, having memorized which kind each of the boys favored. "here, kusumi!" you said, handing him milk bread. "and for akemi and kenichi," you continued, giving them two hot dog breads. "and fuyuto!" you tossed the ravenette a spicy curry bread.
