you groggily sipped your ovaltine chocolate milk as you slid open the door of your wardrobe. it was saturday. you decided to stay at home and do all the homework you had to do today since they were all due on monday. why do schools always assign this shit for you to do on weekends?? people literally go to school the entire week already and with homework, they take our weekends too.

you changed from your oversized gray t-shirt and shorts to a striped cropped sweatshirt and comfy white shorts. maybe you could go buy groceries this afternoon.

sighing, you tossed your empty mug into the sink already full of the dishes you used for breakfast, then reached up to open a cabinet door.

"i swear i had some extra cat food in here..." you mumbled. your eyes lit up when they found the half-full plastic bag of dry cat food. the sound of the kibble rattling into the black plastic bowl rang through the kitchen, waking up gumi.

since gumi was now a new member of your house, you created a little area in the corner of the living room just for him. mrs sato had lent you risa's old cat tree and toys, but gumi never really liked to play with them much. despite his uninterest, you put them in his little area anyway along with a midnight blue pet bed and litter box.

"hey gumii!" you whispered, holding the bowl in one hand and the cat carrier's door with the other. so far, gumi was still slightly scared of people like a normal stray cat, but was comfortable enough to sleep well at your house. he was getting used to cat food as well since he's been in your care for three days now.

you opened the metal door and placed the bowl inside. throughout the three days gumi has been with you, he had wandered around the living and dining room a bit when you left the cage door open. though he still preferred to sleep in the cat carrier. you walked away to let the cat eat in peace and returned to your room, closing the door behind you.

you dumped all the lollipops you had in your pocket, which was a lot, onto your desk and pulled out your f/c laptop from your school bag. "oh, i forgot this was here," you said to yourself, holding your kitchen knife.

you placed it to the side and sat down on your spinning chair, ready to work.

you didn't notice the front door open and close as you were engrossed in your english homework. you didn't notice the door to your room open softly either.

"'your,' not 'you're'." you felt a warmth behind your head and the muffled sound of music reached your ears.

"how did you get into my house—" you said, tilting your head up to look at kaji.

he reached his arms out on either side of you to correct your mistake on your laptop. "you gave me the extra house keys."

"ohh..." you mumbled, looking back at the screen and at the typos kaji was correcting. "right. i didn't notice that."

"y/n, the english wizard, not having proper grammar?" he said almost sarcastically, retracting from the desk but keeping his chin hovering above your head. "that's impossible. even i noticed that."

"my bad. i guess i'm sleepy. anyway, what're you here for?" you took the chance to get a proper glance at him. he wore a white t-shirt and baggy jeans with a black jacket on top. as usual, his white headphones were hung around his neck and a lollipop was in his mouth.

"i brought cat food for gumi; i left it on the dining table. and i wanted to study," he replied, reading the short essay you were almost finished with.

"ah, thanks! i was running low on cat food. but you can always study at home," you said, "so why here?"
