-ONE WEEK LATER-

STEPPING OUT OF HER JEEP AND TUCKING HER KEYS INTO HER POCKET, Ellie walked up the driveway to her parent's house and approached the front door, slowly opening it up.

The blonde looked around for a moment, her siblings and mother were nowhere in sight. She sighed and closed the door behind her, making her way into the living room to find her mom.

Ellie walked around the corner, spotting her mother in the kitchen. "Hey, momma."

Her mom turned around, seeing her daughter approaching. "Hey, sweetie. You finally here to choose your things that dad left behind for you?"

"Yeah," Ellie nodded. "I'm sorry it took me so long to come over, I just..." she sighed, running a hand through her hair.

"Don't worry about it, Ellie," her mother smiled, placing her hand on her daughter's shoulder. "We all handle grief differently."

"Yeah, I know," Ellie said quietly, looking at the ground. "Where's Ben and Annie?"

"In your dad's study," she replied. "They're still figuring out what they want to keep."

Ellie nodded, her gaze meeting her mother's "Are you doing okay?"

"As well as I can be," she replied. "But, please, don't worry about me, okay? That's my job."

Ellie gave her a sad smile, knowing she was trying to be strong in front of her. The blonde placed her hand on her mother's forearm, smiling once more before she turned away and made her way to her father's study.

The blonde approached the door, opening it up and seeing Ben and Annie standing at a bookshelf, going through the different books their father had.

"Hey, you two," Ellie greeted, closing the door behind her.

Ben's dark brown eyes landed on his sister, a smile on his face. "Hey, El, you here to choose your things?"

"Yeah," Ellie replied, making her way over to her father's desk.

The blonde sighed and took a seat in the chair, pulling open one of the drawers. Ellie looked around for a moment, not really seeing anything she wanted, mostly because she knew her mother would want to keep most of his small possessions.
