"Gege!" Hua Cheng greeted as soon as he saw his husband.

"San Lang! How are you?"

"I'm fine and Gege? How was your morning?"

"It was good, how about yours?"

"Mine was as usual."

"How nice San Lang!"

"Where are we going to have lunch today Gege?"

"Well, I've been thinking...and I thought about making lunch."

"Gege wants to make lunch? That's fine with me! Gege's food is delicious!"

Xie Lian smiled.

"That wasn't quite it...I would like to know if San Lang would like to make the lunch with me?"

"Oh, I'd love to! Will Gege teach me the recipe for your wonderful soup?"

"No, actually I wanted San Lang to teach me how to cook. After all, everyone likes San Lang's food and I wanted to learn."

"Oh. But Gege doesn't need to cook differently just to please others. Gege's food is amazing."

"But I really want to learn how to cook like San Lang. Please teach me." Xie Lian asked with a smile that Hua Cheng could never resist.

"Alright, if that's what Gege wants. I'll teach you a simple recipe."

And then the couple walked to the kitchen.

"Very well Gege, I'll teach you how to make rice first, okay?"

"Of course! Teach me please!" Xie Lian said clearly excited.

Hua Cheng picked up a pot and put it on the stove.

"Gege, can you get the bag of rice for me, please?"

Xie Lian nodded and walked towards the pantry. He returns with the bag in his hand and stops next to the ghost king.

The ghost pulls the god by the waist, positioning him in front of him, and takes the god's hand that contained the bag of rice.

"Now with the pan on top of the stove lit, we put the rice in the pan." He said as he helped Xie Lian open the package and pour the grains into the pan.

The god poured the bowl of water into the pot and the ghost added the salt.

"Finally, we add some garlic and onion." He said as he placed the previously chopped ingredients in the pan."Now just lower the heat and wait for the water to dry."

"Wow! I didn't know it was this easy! Xie Lian commented happily."

"Gege just learns quickly!" Hua Cheng replied as he admired his husband.

Dianxia smiled in response, Hua Cheng valued him too much. He always taught things with such care and patience.

The ghost turned off the oven and put the lid on the pot, which woke Xie Lian from his reverie.

"Why doesn't Gege teach me a recipe too?"

"San Lang really wants to learn?"

"Sure, why not?"

Xie Lian smiled.

"Then I'll teach you a special recipe!" He said with a smile.

Hua Cheng smiled.

"So what will Gege teach me?" Asked the ghost as he watched Xie Lian picking up several ingredients.

"A recipe from my mother. She taught me, I don't make it exactly like hers but it is similar!"

"Then teach me please."

And then Dianxia began to chatter as he made her mother's recipe.

"...that's why the carrot has to be cut into cubes." Said the god as he put the diced carrot into the pan.

The ghost clinging to the god's waist while he was cooking listened attentively to everything.

"And why does Gege cut the potatoes into triangles?" Asked the ghost interestedly.

"Oh, that's it! It's my mother's favorite way and since this recipe is hers, I paid homage to it." Said with a smile.

"A beautiful homage Gege." Hua Cheng said while hugging his husband tighter.

Xie Lian snuggled into his husband's embrace. They both stayed like that for a while until the soup started to smell.

"The soup is ready!" Xie Lian stated but Hua Cheng did not release the man. "San Lang I need to take the soup out of the oven before it goes stale."

"Really need it? Then we do another one."

Xie Lian let out a sigh and broke into a smile.

"Unfortunately, yes, San Lang, let me go so we can eat and later you can hug me, okay?"

Hua Cheng just nodded and let go of his husband.

Xie Lian took the soup out of the oven and started preparing two dishes.

They both sat down at the comfortable wooden table outside the cabin and began to eat.

"Gege soup is delicious!" Hua Cheng said.

"Well, thanks San Lang! Your rice is also wonderful!"

They both smiled. Appreciating each other's work was normal in their relationship.

They ate their food in silence enjoying each other's company.
