chapter 19: Bonding with Sunia, part 3

Flashback resumes:

"Surround the vortex!" Natalie commanded, her voice steady in the face of the chaos.

The Powerix girls moved into position, encircling the dark energy. They each prepared to attack, determined to stop its destructive force.

"Calming Aurora!" Alysha cried, sending a beam of royal blue light toward the swirling vortex. But the energy didn't falter—it only seemed to grow stronger.

Electra quickly assessed the situation, her mind racing for a solution. "You two focus on stopping the vortex," she instructed Alysha and Natalie. "I'll protect the Shimmer-dragons." Without waiting for a response, she flew toward the group of white dragons being pulled into the dark winds.

"Quintessence's Scales!" Electra called out, summoning a shimmering turquoise energy shield that rippled like scales. The protective barrier enveloped the Shimmer-dragons, shielding them from the ferocious winds.

Alysha flew to Electra, clearly exhausted. "We tried, but we couldn't stop the vortex," she admitted, her shoulders slumping in defeat.

Electra, however, remained calm. She hummed softly, a smile forming on her lips. "It's alright, Alysha," she reassured her. "You did your best, but I think I know what to do. Stay back and watch."

Alysha nodded and retreated a few steps, while Natalie hovered nearby, curious.

Closing her eyes, Electra summoned her inner energy, a soft, silvery blue aura swirling around her. "Dynamic Flow!" she chanted, her voice steady and strong. "Forces of nature, magic of the fifth element, I call upon you to stop this dark energy from threatening these creatures!" She extended one hand toward the vortex, channeling the swirling energy into a single, concentrated stream. As she hummed a clear note, the energy shot forward, weaving into the vortex.

Alysha and Natalie gasped in amazement as the dark energy dissipated, vanishing into thin air.

Electra opened her eyes, just in time to see one of the white Shimmer-dragons approach her, nudging her gently with its snout. She smiled warmly and reached out to touch it. As their bond formed, they were both enveloped in a brilliant turquoise light. Electra had done it—she had bonded with a Shimmer-dragon.

End of flashback

"After we returned to the present," Electra continued, "I took the Shimmer-dragon to my aunt Niobe. She's always had a way with names, and she came up with one for her—Sunia. It means 'listen' in Sanskrit."

Stormy nodded, clearly impressed. "That's quite the story," she said. "Sunia really is the perfect fairy animal for you."
