He heard stories from his father of demons, mindless beasts no better than the murders they wield. But far worse than anything the human mind can create. There exists a Trigon.
A Darkseid…a Penguin, Joker, Riddler. Demons swarming the world. Reverse Flash. Lex Luther. Bad men capable of bad things…Demons.
Alfred told the same stories–Richard experienced them too. “Keep your doors locked Master Dick,” and he'd lock the windows scared of the demons clawing at the glass. "Stay in your bed.” Tucked beneath the covers. "You're safe.”
Because they wouldn't let the demons in—but then, where there's a Trigon…there's a Raven. Where there's a Joker, there's a Harley Quinn. Where there are demons, there are jewels hidden beneath all the bad…where there's a Slade, there's a Tara.
“Yes sir," and then he'd watch as the old man leaves after locking the door to keep the bad guys out. Keep Master Dick safe until his father gets back to check up on him.
Make sure the Demons can't touch the Bat’s safety…but then there's a Harley…and just like his father, Richard’s weak to women like her. He's still young and she's an adult…childhood crushes die hard.
….the demons are bad…but there exists a Raven. A Roth. A daughter of Trigon with enough power in her head to tear apart whatever Superman could throw…and teenage crushes never really die.
But where there exists a Raven…there's a green mutt not too far behind. Richard smiled softly as the couple walked in, "good morning.” He smiles through missed chances.
Barbara grew up, Star’s not ready for a boy, Raven has her own, and Tara’s frozen beneath the tower. "Hey,” the green man would mumble and follow his girlfriend into the kitchen.
Guess he's happy for them, a Demon and a Changeling. Like the story tails Dr.Fate would tell the rare times Bruce left the boy at his tower when the world fell in.
Didn't really expect anything else–Beast Boy knew what he wanted and he wasn't afraid to pursue her…Richard knew what he wanted but knew even better; what he wanted never wanted him.
So he'll sit in the living room working his time away. Slade’s gone, they're all growing up, new Titan members to be included…they're all eighteen in six months when Beast Boy finally turns.
They're all splitting ways, those that aren't in relationships at least, changing names and leaving their old lives behind. His smile drops as the pencil grows heavy—Starfire sits beside him a cushion away watching TV halfway awake.
Cyborg’s probably in the kitchen having to deal with their lovey dovey attitude.
The pencil no longer fits his hand…the Titans, if you can even call them that, are developing their own identity. Bruce is forming a new team, the Young Justice.
He'll need some teachers, if Richard doesn't head to Gotham, he might as well do what he does best: lead. Leading a team to greatness–tears slide down and fill his mask. So he stands up.
Star looks at him briefly as he picks up his supplies, “where are you heading?" He smiles to hide the quake in his lips and looks at her.
“I'm going to get ready," she didn't need to ask more to catch on…he started the team. Brought them together. Worked to get them where they are now…ironic that he's leaving first. Star frowns and looks away.
“There are still six months left," she wants the same to stay the same. But the same isn't staying the same…and she's struggling to cope. "You don't have to pack now.”
Robin…Richard…Nightwing looked down at the supplies in his hand. His smile slowly dropped, “Gotham’s in need of a hero, Batman’s not doing well so he's calling me in." She nodded, still looking away, “I'll say bye before I leave."
