Father Charlie's mind continues to boggle with disarrayed thoughts.

If Sister Nyla found trouble during last night, there isn't a way possible for her to be already in another country.

He calms down from his pacing, pausing to hear the boys more clearly.
"So she fell ill last night and went to the hospital.
What happened? Who did they call?"

The boys notice that they've made a mess of gossip.
... Gossip that they aren't even sure of themselves.

"I-I don't know Father Charlie..."
Tucker stutters with worry.
"She's a nun Father! I guess they called the Monastery of course.
All I know is that they have one of the sisters she was in the program with come down and sit with her as the elders do the planning about this news."

Tyler ends his goofing off and stands beside his brother for support. "Yeah, Charlie.
If you get dressed and come down stairs, you'll see that the first couple of pews the elders usually take up are empty.
They are somewhere else, planning Sister Nyla's way of travel when she gets better... I guess."

Father squeezes at his tensed forehead.
It is his one year pastor anniversary and the goddamn congregation still does whatever they please!

No wake up call or anything to alarm him of what had happened in the middle of the night, just taking measure immediately into their own hands.

Father becomes reminded of what Tyler had just said.

"-when she gets better... I guess."

"When she's better?" With widen eyes he repeats.
"So she hasn't gone anywhere yet...
She could still be in the hospital..."

The boys stare at each other in confusion, shrugging their shoulders as they begin to pack for Charlie as they were told to do...

Although youthful and twelve years old, the Mayhew twins are not stupid... They know that the stress they see across their cousin's face is a telling sign that somehow, he's involved.

Instead of his white-collar priest garment, Charlie unfolds an outfit of normal everyday wear from the bottom of his dresser drawer.

He dresses in a red university T-shirt, light blue jeans, and white Adidas that he uses as his running shoes.

"Father Charlie?" Tyler becomes curious.
"You aren't finding the news as amusing as we thought you would. Why are you so upset?"

Charlie slows in thought as he covers his identity in a black windbreaker and dark shades.

...

"Fellas, Sister Nyla is a good nun, the best nun this church has ever had. We as Catholics need to be more understanding when it comes to sin. Have we all forgotten that the Lord died for our sins? That his forgiveness is ever more?"
He sighs.
"What Sister Nyla needs right now is her church family, not to be the topic of spread discussion and to be banished as if she is no longer a saint.
How can we as followers of the word judge and not forgive her when even God forgave man for the cruelty they caused his only son?
Jesus died for our sins... Not for us to sit here and play God."
