The past couple of days I have managed to escape Ollie altogether therefore I no longer feel like an idiot every waking hour of the day. Now I only feel like an idiot for 75% of the day and it’s actually quite a relief. It feels as though things are just starting to blow over and because I’ve been working from the flat most of the time I’ve been able to see a lot more of Emmie so I no longer feel like I’m losing her which is another huge weight lifted over my shoulder. Even better Dom’s stories have really given some life into this article and at the moment it’s shaping up nicely. I really feel like this could be the best piece of writing I have ever done despite the whole ridiculous situation I am trapped in. “Here’s to another day spent in ignorant bliss,” I say raising my tea mug into the air knowing yet another day will be an Ollie-free-zone. “I wouldn’t be so sure,” Emmie cautiously informs me.
“Huh?” I puzzle.
“Ollie called while you were in the shower. He said he finally got the go ahead for you to come down to the set to watch a scene being filmed. He said he’d see you there in an hour,” she explains. “Sorry,” she adds on seeing my expression of sheer utter horror. I just groan and turn back into my room to get ready. I asked to see him on the set ages ago when every second spent around him didn’t involve the strange sensation of air being snatched out of my lungs. But Ollie has to wait until now to let me on the set. I can’t avoid this one. It was me who begged and pestered Ollie to get this sorted and this is really important to the article. Oh god I’m really going to have to go see him aren’t I? Well here’s to another day spent in embarrassed awkwardness… yay me…
I open the door and walk into what can only be described as complete and utter chaos. People are skimming around the place like lost ants flinging sheets of papers, props and all sorts at each other. The corridors twist and turn like a maze and the bright lights do nothing to calm the intense atmosphere lying thick in the air. After five seconds spent in this building I feel sick with dizziness. “Ollie will be here in a minute,” someone informs me rushing past with an armful of files so high it obscures their face. I get the feeling I am the only thing standing still in this whole entire room. “Izzie thank god you’re here! Can you do me a favour and just run through this scene with me?” asks Ollie suddenly appearing out of nowhere.
“Yeah, sure,” I answer cautiously nervously eyeing the mayhem unfolding behind us. So he grabs my arm and leads me down one of the corridors. My shoulder gets bashed so many times by the people marching off in the opposite direction. “Jennifer still hasn’t turned up and I’m kind of freaking out because I haven’t ever practiced the lines out loud,” Ollie explains gabbling. He pokes his head frantically through a few doors before coming to a halt at one and gesturing for me to enter. This room is refreshingly empty and once again I am able to actually breathe. “Okay here’s the script just read the lines with me,” I nod as Ollie thrusts a couple of sheets of paper in my hand and I quickly scan over the lines. Great it’s a gushy love scene… this won’t be awkward at all. But one look in Ollie’s panicked stern eyes tells me that this is purely professional. He suddenly calms down in seconds and snaps into that Ollie magic delivering his first line with the usual polished tone. After a panicked pause I read my line and we sink into the dialogue. Thank goodness for GCSE drama.
I read the lines as best I can but clearly it is no where near as good as Ollie who really does not need the practice at all he’s got it spot on. Halfway through the scene he takes a step closer and wraps his arms around me immersing me in him as the stage directions dictate. An electric spark is triggered somewhere at the back of my heart and goosebumps prickle all over my skin. My breath catches in my throat and my heart judders in my chest. I try to speak my next line but a weird squeak is the only thing that will come out of my mouth. I close my eyes and remind myself that this is just acting. Ollie will never pull me into him like this and really, truly mean it. Coming to my senses I eventually I deliver my line and scan the next line in preparation. Everything was fine until my eyes skimmed over the last stage directions. (She pulls away but is stopped and they kiss.) No. I can’t kiss him again. Not knowing that it doesn’t mean anything, seriously what sort of twisted form of torture is this? Ollie says the last line before the dreaded stage directions and I quickly dislodge myself from him. “Great. That was really good you were brilliant. No need to practice,” I smile quickly ending the scene before it can go any further i.e. before I have to kiss him. Problem diverted! “Izzie can we do the whole scene it carries on over the next page. Would you mind doing all the stage directions as well so I can run through the scene properly?” he asks me. He’s asking me to kiss him. But he is not asking me in that way, this is still purely about the acting and I can’t say no because that would be admitting that something is wrong with the situation and he would know I like him. “Of course,” I reply quickly while inside I am screaming out in frustration. We get back into our starting positions and start all over again. But all the while my eyes are fixed on the lines instructing me to kiss Ollie waiting for their arrival. Once again he pulls me close and I can feel his breath rippling the top of my hair making a warm fuzzy feeling rip through my stomach. Here we go. This time I keep a level head determined not to let this get to me. This is purely acting. He can’t know. He can’t know. He can’t know. So I do as told I pull away from his arms and then allow his hand to reach out to cup my chin and pull me up towards him. This kiss was slower than at the after party his lips are just grazing mine. Despite the fact that it’s 100% fake and the whole time I would not let myself forget it; it still felt real. Then we pull away say the last few lines and its over. “There, you were great. You’re ready,” I mutter hastily trying to confirm in my mind that it meant nothing but my heart is still going crazy. I need to get out of here. I need to get some air. I need to breathe. I turn to run away but I’m stopped by a soft grasp on my arm. Before I can register what has happened I’m kissing Ollie again. This time it is really for real. HE’S KISSING ME! I just want to smile even though I am right in the middle of kissing him. I want to burst into song and dance around like a lunatic. Obviously I don’t because that would be insane, (even by my standards.) What am I even doing? Shut up brain and ENJOY this. Why haven’t we been doing this the whole time? Suddenly he stops. “I gotta go do the scene,” he explains. He looks like he is about to walk away but he changes his mind and quickly kisses me again before deciding he really has to go. But this time he’s smiling and looking me straight in the eye as he disappears from view. Does that mean he likes me back!?!
Grinning like a maniac I walk towards the set to watch Ollie perform his scene. I watch him smiling like an obsessed teenage fan but I can’t help it. I just want to tell everyone in the vicinity that Ollie Daniels kissed me and he meant it this time!!! But I don’t because once again those aren’t the actions of a sane person. So I just watch him in awe quietly floating in the delight of the memory of kissing him. “Miss, we are no longer allowing visitors on the set. We really need to get this scene done,” a man with a clip board tells me. I nod and begin to take my exit all the while keeping my eyes glued on Ollie. Seconds later he looks up and flashes me the loveliest, warmest smile letting me know that this time it wasn’t mistake. In short: YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
