the final notes of luna's short n sweet tour had faded, and the whirlwind of flashing lights, screaming fans, and sold-out arenas finally came to a close. the energy of the past few months was still buzzing inside her, but there was a quietness settling in that felt both foreign and comforting. she had done it—her first headlining tour was over, and now, with nothing but open possibilities ahead of her, she could finally take a breath.
but the world outside wasn't slowing down. tabloids and social media had barely taken a breath either, and the latest buzz had little to do with luna's music. instead, the gossip pages were ablaze with one specific rumor: luna carpenter and nicholas chavez, together for almost a year now, were on the brink of marriage.
luna sighed as she scrolled through her phone, seeing headline after headline speculating about a proposal. her relationship had always been a source of fascination for the public, but it seemed like the rumors were ramping up after the tour.
nicholas, who was lounging next to her on the couch, glanced over and noticed the look on her face. "still reading about our 'engagement'?" he teased, a smirk on his lips.
she gave him a playful glare, tossing her phone onto the coffee table. "you'd think we were planning a royal wedding or something with how obsessed they are."
he laughed, pulling her closer. "it's kind of funny, though. they're so sure about it."
"well, we've been together for nearly a year," she said, resting her head on his shoulder. "i guess it's natural for people to start asking questions."
nick shrugged. "i don't mind the rumors. but we know what's real between us. that's all that matters."
"true," she agreed, feeling the warmth of his presence. the gossip didn't bother her as much as it used to. with nicholas by her side, she felt grounded.
"besides," he added, a teasing edge in his voice, "who's to say there won't be a proposal someday? maybe i'm just waiting for the perfect moment."

he chuckled and pressed a kiss to her temple. "relax, no pressure. it'll happen when it happens."
