Description
Bayonetta 1 and 2
"Magical beads crafted by the witch Akko while in the service of the ancient Japanese queen Himiko. When its user dodges incoming danger, the beads will launch a magical counter-strike against the attacker. While the attack is incredibly powerful, it sucks the emotional strength from its user, stripping them of the ability to activate Witch Time."
Bayonetta 3
Magical beads crafted by the witch Akko while in the service of the ancient Japanese queen Himiko. When the wearer dodges incoming danger, the beads launch a magical counterattack against the attacker. It's said that the more closely an attack is dodged, the more powerful the counterattack becomes. However, while the attack is incredibly powerful, it drains the wearer's emotional strength and strips them of the ability to activate Witch Time. Its shape is not fixed, and it is known to change into a variety of forms, such as an earring or bracelet, to adapt to the wearer's combat garb and fighting style.
Usage
When performing a dodge that would normally activate Witch Time, Bayonetta will instead create a small orb where she began her dodge. This orb will explode after a moment or if an enemy comes too close, causing damage and usually staggering them. This effect strips Bayonetta's dodge of its ability to trigger Witch Time.
References
Himiko was a shamaness-queen of Yamatai-koku in Wakoku. Early Chinese dynastic histories chronicle tributary relations between Queen Himiko and the Cao Wei Kingdom and record that the Yayoi period people chose her as ruler following decades of warfare among the kings of Wa.
