Appearance

The Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa are two golden braces with chains connecting to a golden moon with the umbran symbol carved on it. On the north, east, south and west sides of the moon are four curved golden lines that appear to look like fire but that's my personal opinion. On the side of the moon are spikes that make it look like a sun when connected but again personal opinion. In Bayonetta 3 it becomes an earing with only the moon, it also gains a chain to add it onto the ear.

Description

Bayonetta 1 and 2

"Braces blessed by Shiva, the Indian goddess of destruction. Said to have been crafted by the witch Yaksi while serving the Vijayanagara Empire, legend states the braces have the power to repel an enemy's attack. Yaksi was purported to have been invincible, as her mastery of this technique allowed her to nullify any attack, no matter what the strength."

Bayonetta 3

"A charm blessed by Shiva, the Indian god of destruction, and said to have been crafted by the witch Yaksi while serving the Vijayanagara Empire. The wearer gains the power to repel an enemy's attack. Its shape is not fixed, and it is known to change into a variety of forms, such as an earring or bracelet, to adapt to the wearer's combat garb and fighting style."

Usage

Bayonetta conjures a shield with the Umbra Witch sigil to repel incoming attacks like a parry. This usually staggers the target and yields one magic orb, as in a perfect dodge. If the analogue stick is pressed at the same time the attack connects, Bayonetta will gain two magic orbs, counter with a headbutt and activate an extended Witch Time. Certain weapons, like Shuraba, will counter with a Wicked Weave as long as Bayonetta has enough magic.

References

In reality Shiva isn't a goddess but instead the god of destruction and time. Shiva is usually depicted as white with a blue neck, his hair arranged in a coil of matted locks and adorned with the crescent moon and the Ganges. Shiva has three eyes with the third eye bestowing inward vision but capable of burning destruction when focused outward. He wears a garland of skulls and a serpent around his neck and carries in his two (sometimes four) hands a deerskin, a trident, a small hand drum, or a club with a skull at the end. Yakshinis or Yakshis are a class of female nature spirits in Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain religious mythologies. Yakshinis and their male counterparts, the Yakshas, are one of the many paranormal beings associated with the centuries-old sacred groves of India. The Vijayanagara Empire was a late medieval Hindu empire that ruled much of southern India. It was established in 1336 by the brothers Harihara I and Bukka Raya I of the Sangama dynasty and it lasted until 1646.
