"Newt! Get back here and help me!" I yell as he walks away toward the homestead. He's never walked away from me before when I joked around, what's his deal today? I sigh as I finish watering the plants, then continue to dig in Newt's unfinished hole. "Working alone today?" Minho greets as he runs to my side. "Well, Newt was here. I guess I ticked him off, he walked toward the homestead." I stab the shovel into the ground and rest my arm on it, then turn to face Minho. "That shuck face left you here?" He furrows his eyebrows, and his fists tighten. "It's fine, Minho. I'm almost finished anyway." I place the shovel back into the hole and place my feet on the top of the shovel piece, rooting the shovel into the ground. "That's enough for today. Frypan would think that's enough vegetables for tonight's dinner." Minho pulls the shovel out from under me, causing me to stumble backwards. "But-" I protest. "No buts, go on y/n. Take a break for once." He smirks, and runs off with the shovel in hand. I pick up the basket sitting beside the already picked vegetables and place them one at a time, neatly stacking them in the basket. I guess Minho is right, I have been working in the gardens nonstop ever since my position as a runner was taken because of my injury...... It was a normal day of running, just Minho, Thomas, and I jogging through the long corridors of the Maze. We turn right, then left, then anther right, continuing a nonstop pattern. As we come around the corner with me in the lead, I stop dead in my tracks at the sight of the huge sluggish creature. A Griever. I stand there, unmoving and my heart stopping. "Y/n! Come on!" Minho yells grabbing my arm and pulling me away from the Griever, snapping me out of my daze. We run down the corridor, and make a right turn, leading toward a dead end. We hear a screeching sound like metal grinding against metal, and our hearts sink. The Griever trapped us. Without thinking, I run towards the Griever, trying to distract him so Minho and Thomas could get away. "Y/N NO!" Thomas yells trying to grab my arm, but I'm already face to face with the horrifying creature. "Climb up the vines! I'll be right behind you!" I yell over my shoulder. I pull out my pocket knife from my runners pack and flick it open, ready to sacrifice my own life for my friends. I turn around to see they already climbed to the top of the vines, so I run towards them, wrapping the vines around my hands as I pull myself up. The Griever is right behind me, staying right on my tail. I lose hold of the vine in my left hand, and I'm dangling from my right. My right hand is burning from the weight of my entire body hanging from it. I'm able to regain my grip, and I begin to climb farther up the wall. I'm almost halfway up the wall when I lose the grip from my right hand, the burning of the vines causing me to release the vine. I look below me to see the Griever charging up the wall, showing no sign of slowing. My fingers feel like they're being pried off of the vines, and I release my grip from ivy, falling onto the Maze floor. I land on my right foot, and sharp pains pierce through my entire right leg, causing a scream to release from my mouth. "Y/n! I'm coming!" Minho flies down onto the vines, swinging from the left to the right, paying no attention to the Griever. I plant my left foot on the ground, hoisting myself up as I limp over toward the wall, resting on it. Minho runs in front of me, bending into a squatting position. "Climb on! Hurry!" I jump onto his back, then look to my right to see Thomas running beside us. We run down the long corridors. Turning left, turning right, making no wrong turns. We arrive at the doors and Minho rushes through them, taking me straight to the Medjacks.
