We made it back to the Glade about five minutes before the walls closed, and we ran straight to the map room. And of course, Minho had me show Newt how to map. I could tell he was exhausted, and he looks like he's going to collapse. "Hey, Newt, are you okay?" I ask, stopping him from his work. "Yeah, I'm fine," he says through a heavy sigh. "Are you sure?" I know he doesn't mean it, I don't even know why he wanted to be a Runner in the first place, it just doesn't make sense. "I'm sure." I give a sincere smile, and finish up some small details on my map before placing it in the correct numbered box. Newt does the same, and follows me out the door. We walk in silence through the dim light of the sunset, hearing nothing but the rustle of the grass and flowers growing beneath our feet. I was about to break the silence, but I didn't know what to say. This is what I wanted, Newt and I to be alone, but now that I have it, I don't even know what to say to him! Besides, he might still have feelings for Paige. "So, um, you and Paige aren't together anymore?" I don't make eye contact, just continue to stare at my feet as I walk slowly beside him, our bodies almost touching. "That was a dumb question to ask, love," he smirks. Wait, did he just call me love? I try to hold back my smile, but I can't fight it off, and one appears on my face. "Besides, I've already got my eye on someone anyway." He stops walking, and I turn around to see what he's doing. As I look at him, his smile fades. "What is it?" I ask, stepping closer toward him. "I have to tell you something, y/n. I know you probably won't feel the same way, and if you don't, it will ruin our friendship. But I have to tell you how I feel. Ever since you came up in that box, I had feelings for you. You're the reason I stopped trying to commit suicide. You didn't even know it, but you saved my life. You are my everything, even when I was with Paige. Everything about you is perfect, and I couldn't ask for a better friend.... I guess what I'm trying to say is... I-i love you." I stare at him with watery eyes as tears slowly run down my cheeks, and I run toward Newt as he holds his arms open. I cry softly into his chest as he squeezes me, resting his chin on my head. "I love you, too." I whisper. He pulls away from the hug, and stares down at me with the same watery eyes. "You do?" He asks, a smile spreading across his face. I nod, and he crashes is lips onto mine. It was perfect, the warmth of his soft lips against mine. We slowly pull away, and he wraps his arm around my lower back as he walks me to my hut. I open the door, and kiss his cheek before hugging him. "Goodnight, I love you y/n." He whispers into my ear. "Night, I love you too, Newt." He walks away toward his hammock as I close my door. I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling with a smile on my face. This is what I wanted, I wanted to be with Newt. And the only person that could screw that up is Paige....

Paige's POV
I pace back and forth in my hut, trying to think of someway to get Newt back as tears stream down my face. I try to control my loud sobbing, but I can't help it when I miss him so much. I look out my tiny window, and see Newt and y/n. They're standing in front of her hut, and he hugs her before walking toward his hammock. I turn to face my room, and slouch against the wall to the floor. I punch the concrete in anger, causing the top of my knuckles to bleed. I don't care what I have to do, I am going to get Newt back. And I'm going to get rid of her.
