"Y/n? Hey, wake up." I slowly open my eyes, blinking rapidly to clear the blurriness. "Good afternoon, love," Newt smiles. I sit up, still not realizing what he said. "Wait, afternoon? Minho is going to kill me, I gotta go." I say, rising from my cot. "Woah, it's fine. I ran alone today, it's no big deal." He says lowering me back onto the cot. "I'm so sorry Newt," I whisper. "Like I said, it's fine." He says, kissing my cheek. I give a sincere smile, then stand from the cot. I make way to my wooden dresser, built by Minho and Newt. I pick up one of the five hair ties that were sent up in the box, and quickly pull my hair up. Newt follows behind me, and wraps his arms around my waist as his head rests upon my shoulder. "Do you have any plans tonight?" He whispers in my ear. "Well, I was going to work in the map room. To try to figure out what we're missing on those maps." I turn around to face him, and for some odd reason he's smiling. "There has to be something we're missing, Newt," I say. Without a word, Newt takes my hand and leads me out of the hut. He pulls me through the Glade, passing Glader after Glader, all of them with the same confused expression on their faces. Once Newt finally stops, we're both out of breath. I take a look around, and realize we're in the start of the Deadheads. "Newt, what are we doing here?" I ask. He doesn't say anything, but he walks over to the nearest tree, and bends down to pick something up. When he reappears, he has a blanket in one hand, and a wooden basket in the other. I smile, and take the blanket from his hand and lay it on the ground. We both sit down, sitting side by side. Newt sets the basket between us, and pulls out sandwiches for each of us. "What's the occasion?" I ask, smiling as I take a bite from the sandwich. He smirks, and takes a bite. "Well, when you were sleeping, Minho and I were working hard, running in the Maze." He says, laughing. I laugh, too, and hit his arm. "Get to the point, shank." "Okay, okay, fine.... I think we found a way out of here." I turn my body to face him, both of us staring into each other's eyes. "We might get out of here?" I ask, my voice cracking. He leans over and hugs me tightly as I wrap my arms around him. As we pull away, I see his watery eyes. "Yeah," he whispers. Our faces are inches apart, waiting for the other to do something. Newt suddenly presses his lips against mine, softly and slowly. "Y/n, I love you. I-I really love you." He whispers into my ear. "I love you too," I whisper back. We both stand from the blanket, and put the leftover sandwiches into the basket, then Newt places it behind the tree. He reappears with another blanket, smiling as he sits down. "I came prepared," he smirks. It's starting to become really dark, and most of the stars already came out. Newt lays down on the blanket, and I rest my head on his chest as he wraps his arm around my back, leading to my waist. He places the blanket over top of us, and I find myself falling asleep listening to Newt's steady heartbeat.
