Y/N's POV
Everyone turns their heads toward Newt, and the only sound to be heard is the Glader's heavily breathing. Newt stands tall, a little smirk showing on his face. "Newt, you know you can't." Alby protests. "And why the shuck not?" Alby looks down at Newt's limp, as if reminding him that he had it. "I know I have a bloody limp, Alby. I'm not like a puppy dog that forgets that it's hurt. And you know just as much as any Glader here that the Keeper has to decide, so it's not your decision." Newt turns toward Minho, who's expression is nervous and pale. "Minho, what do you think about this?" Alby asks, looking at Minho and giving him a "don't screw this up look." He hesitates before answering, and shifts upward in his chair. "You know as well as me that when Newt wants to do something, he doesn't stop until he does.... I think he can do it." Newt's smile grows wide, and Minho smirks. I step toward Newt, and stare at him with sad eyes. "Newt, I don't think you should." I see the excitement in his eyes vanish, but he still keeps a stern look. "Love, you told me to trust you. And I do, how about doing the same in return?" I feel a smile spread across my face, and I feel a little better. He does trust me, so I guess I should trust him. I take steps closer to him, and embrace him in a hug. "Thank you," I whisper into his chest. I can't believe this is really happening, and Newt is going to do it with me. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing yet, I haven't decided. It could be good because I get to spend more time with him, but it could be bad because he could get hurt, or Paige could become angry. I just couldn't wait to get out in the Maze again, those moments running through the long corridors were the best moments of my life, even though I don't remember half of it. I unwrap my arms around from Newt, and return my attention back to Alby as he begins to speak once more.

Newt's POV
Everyone returns their attention back to Alby, who begins to speak again. "We have agreed that Y/N, will become a Runner. Minho has decided Newt should be a Runner as well, which I had no say in. They will both start their running tomorrow, so make sure you get enough rest." As Alby speaks, I turn my head to the crowd of Gladers, and see Paige sitting in the middle of the crowd, a scowl on her face. She gives me a dirty look, and I already know I'm going to be in for it once the meetings over. Hopefully Alby has other things to talk about at this meeting. "Okay, Gladers. That's all for tonight," Alby says as everyone stands from their chairs and begins to clean them up. Bloody hell, he couldn't think of something else to talk about for five shucking minutes so I could go hide somewhere first? I look to my right to see Y/N, walking toward her hut. I turn around to start walking toward the Deadheads, to hopefully get away before Paige found me, but I suddenly feel a grip on my arm, and I know exactly who it is. "Newt, what the hell is wrong with you! You could get hurt out there, and you sacrifice yourself to protect her?" She crosses her arms, and a disgusted expression appears on her face. She looks like a little girl who didn't receive the toy she wanted, so she throws a tantrum over it. "I'm not sacrificing myself for her. I didn't know it was a bloody crime to want to become a Runner again." I scoff, and begin to walk away again. She catches up to me, and walks along beside me as she begins her rant again. "You and I both know it's more than that! I don't even know why you would do that for her, she's a slut." I stop dead in my tracks, and turn around to face her, my fists clenched and my face a dark red. "I heard she was all over Minho, and now she's trying to get with you." I lower my head, that can't be true, can it? "It's sick, isn't it?" She smirks, stepping toward me. "That's not true, y/n isn't like that." She lets off a little laugh, and takes another step closer. "Newt, she's nothing! Nothing but a slut, and that's all she'll ever be." I push her up against the wall of one of the huts, and stare at her. "Don't you ever call her that again, you hear me?" I take my arm off her neck, and she falls onto the ground. "Do you like her, Newt?" She asks, tears filling her eyes. How can she go from psycho bitch to crying her eyes out? I see what she's doing and it's not going to work. "Of course not! Y/N is just a friend. And so are you." I begin walking toward my hammock when I stop, hearing her barely mumble through her loud sobs. "Newt, what are you saying?" She stands from her spot on the ground, and begins walking to me. "I'm saying we're done."
