Ivy shrouded their home, growing as slowly as the marriage his parents had forced upon him.
He watched as the leaves climbed the walls, covering the cracks as he tried to fill the void in his heart.
His wife was kind and loving, but his heart belonged to someone else, his first and perhaps only love. Although he tried to be a good husband, he knew he could never return her feelings.
He would remain faithful to her in joy and in sorrow, even if he could never love her with the same intensity as in a past that could never return.
