Sitting at the table, he stared at the letter in his hands. Next to it was an anemone, the flower his mother loved.

His father wanted to see him again, but why?

Years before, that man had left them without explanation, leaving them to fend for themselves.

Now he no longer cared how he lived or what he wanted. For him, that man no longer existed. He had found a true father in the father figure of his best friend, who had never left him alone.

He looked at the flower, tore up the letter and dropped it. The past was gone and he did not deserve a second chance.

Not for him.
