winning a battle, losing the war

jorydn leant against the counter in meredith's kitchen, a steaming mug of coffee in her hand as she looked out the window overlooking the backyard. it was huge, and peaceful. birds flew down from the trees and pecked at the grass while the autumn leaves fell slowly down from above. jordyn sighed contently, taking a sip from her coffee... maybe she should move in here.

the sound of clattering footsteps coming down the stairs instantly flushed that idea from her head as she turned to see meredith storming into the utility room with george and izzie in tow, the two seemingly arguing over the size of their rooms. she understood izzie's point, it was a little bit of a squeeze in her room last night.

meredith emerged from the utility room with a towel in hand, freezing in her spot at the sight of jordyn as the other two came to a sudden halt behind her. "i don't remember saying you could live here," meredith quirked an eyebrow at the brunette.

jordyn moved around the island, leaning against the side closest to them - mug still in hand. "you didn't," she shrugged. "me and izzie just had a sleepover."

meredith's face scrunched suspiciously. "a sleepover?"

a sly smirk slowly appeared on jordyn's face. "yeah, and we had dirty dirty lesbian sex in your house."

george looked like he was about to faint.

izzie's smile dropped from her face as she moved to shove jordyn's face, the brunette only laughing as she avoided her hand. "she's lying," the blonde defended, turning to look at meredith. "we did not have dirty dirty lesbian sex. we watched dirty dancing... and she cried."

meredith's mouth finally closed, having been open since she locked eyes with jordyn in her kitchen. "i don't have time for this," she shook her head quickly, resuming her journey up to the bathroom. izzie and george quickly followed, showering her with suggestions on how to decorate the house.

jordyn watched them leave, the girl drifting off into a daze before shaking herself free. she checked the time on her watch and quickly finished her coffee before following in the direction of the others to get ready for their shift.

dead baby bike race. jordyn had heard about it, seen plenty of stories on the news about it. but, having been originally from virginia, she was yet to experience it. until now. now, the interns were standing in an elevator with dr. bailey, getting ready to prepare for what would be one of the most chaotic days in the internship.

"every year this bar-" george began explaining before meredith cut him off.

"the dead baby bar."

"every year, they hold this underground bike race," he finished as they stepped out of the elevator, moving to put their trauma kits on - which jordyn really didn't like, yellow is not her colour.

"don't you wonder why someone would name a bar something so disgusting?" izzie's face scrunched in disgust.

"keep your pants on, nancy drew," christina joked, poking izzie in the side, making the blonde jump as she laughed in surprise.

"the race is completely illegal and-"

"crazy," meredith finished george's sentence. "a bunch of bike messengers racing against traffic, trying to beat each other for free shots of tequila."
