shake your groove thing
jordyn woke up late. she could say it wasn't her fault. but it was. though she had a good reason for staying up to all hours of the night. she cursed when she seen the time on her alarm clock, quickly jumping out of the bed, not having much care whether she woke the other body under the covers or not. the brunette ran around the room, putting on whatever scattered clothes she could find from the floor. she hopped out of the bedroom, still in the process of putting on her trousers and lifted her shoes from the rack near the front door.
as she bent down, something on the welcome mat caught her eye. she picked up the letter, her blue eyes glued to the bright red colouring of the word 'urgent'. her teeth grazed over her lip as she opened the letter, her eyes being met with different big red letters this time.
evicted.
"shit," she sighed, running a hair through her hair. "this day keeps getting better." she folded the letter up, stuffing it in her pocket before scribbling a quick note and placing it on the counter, leaving her apartment, well, former apartment.
she managed to arrive at the hospital within 15 minutes, thankfully her apartment was close enough to the hospital and the traffic wasn't awful considering it was 6am. her car was lopsided in the space after she parked, but she didn't even care to lock it as she ran inside, navigating her way through patients and nurses to reach the intern locker room.
jordyn could've sworn she broke a record time changing into her scrubs, throwing her hair loosely into a high ponytail. she threw her stethoscope around her neck, and opened the door to the halls, preparing to rush through her pre-rounds as quick as she could but was soon stopped in her tracks, her eyes meeting those of miranda bailey.
"you're late," dr. bailey deadpanned, kissing her teeth in annoyance as she eyeballed the young intern in front of her.
jordyn mouth opened and closed, struggling to form the words that her mind was racing to say. "i know, i'm sorry, but i can explain-"
dr. bailey held a finger up to the brunette's face, silencing her completely. "shut up, i don't wanna hear whatever excuse you have lined up."
"please dr. bailey," she pleaded with the woman, lifting the letter out of her scrub pocket, that she had thankfully put in there when she changed, and held it up for dr. bailey to see. "i got evicted."
the nazi's eyes scanned the paper, trying to determine how real it was. taking this as a good sign, jordyn continued, speaking quickly before the resident could cut her off again. "it was slipped under my door last night. when i woke up and seen it this morning, it- it sent me into a spiral. i'm sorry, please don't fire me."
okay. so, maybe she lied. but jordyn preferred to call it bending the truth a little. technically it wasn't a lie, it was just a slightly different version of the truth. the intern studied the woman before her, waiting for any type of response. she could've sworn she seen a flash of pity in her eyes, but it was gone just as fast as it came.
dr. bailey inhaled deeply, her gaze moving away from the letter and up to jordyn's pleading eyes. "you're on rectal exams until further notice," the resident ordered. jordyn breathed a sigh of relief, her body instantly relaxing. "and you are not to speak a word unless you're patient is dying, dead, or has a tumour the size of jupiter. you understand?"
"yes, dr. bailey," jordyn nodded her head rapidly. "thank you. it won't happen again."
"it better not," the woman pursed her lips, looking the intern up and down before stepping back from the door. "now go... before i change my mind."
