no man's land

seattle weather. jordyn wouldn't ever get used to it. it was always wet, windy and cold. while portland wasn't much better, at least it wasn't as cold. jordyn listened to the rain hitting the window outside as she finished changing into her scrubs, fixing her hair into a low messy bun.

"you are the first person they see in the morning," dr. bailey spoke as she walked around the interns who were preparing for their shift. "you say please. you say thank you. you apologise for waking them up. you make them feel good about you. why is that important? 'cause then they'll talk to you and tell you what's wrong. why is that important? because then you can tell your attending what they need to know during rounds. and why is that important? because if you make your resident look bad, she'll torture you until you beg for your mama. now get out there. i want pre-rounds done by 5:30 am.

dr. bailey left the room and jordyn went over to join meredith and christina. "i better get good patients today," meredith began. "yesterday i had two guys with colostomies who needed dressing changes every 15 minutes."

"i'm gonna be in surgery. today's my day," yang spoke hopefully, though she didn't sound it.

"dream on, yang," jordyn commented with a slight roll of her eyes.

"on what?"

"like i'd tell you," yang answered meredith's question.

"what do you know?" meredith continued pressing her.

"i know i was here at 4, and you didn't get here til 4:30."

"tell me."

"yang, please just tell her to shut her up," jordyn begged.

"no," yang denied, moving around to get closer to meredith before lowering her voice. "i'm not the intern screwing the attending."

"ouch, low blow," jordyn commented, smirking at meredith who slammed her locker shut, following after christina. jordyn pushed herself off the locker she was leaning on, going to follow them when izzie appeared in front of her, blocking the way.

the blonde looked at her with narrowed eyes, her arms folded over her chest. "where were you last night?"

"uh, at my apartment," jordyn answered slowly, looking at the blonde skeptically.

"but you said you'd come round to meredith's?"

"yeah, well... my plans changed," jordyn's voice cracked slightly, wanting to avoid izzie's pressing questions. she managed to squeeze past the blonde to get out of the locker room. izzie ran to catch up with her as the both started walking the halls to do pre-rounds.

"they're gonna started hating you soon, y'know," izzie whispered as they walked.

"who is?" jordyn laughed, shaking her head slightly as she looked at the blonde.

"the nurses," izzie smirked menacingly. "keep sleeping with them and they're gonna start a hayes hating club."

jordyn rolled her eyes, laughing sarcastically. "ha, ha! look, i can't help it if they fall for me. i'm irresistible."

"you're disgusting."

jordyn left the room of her last pre-round patient, closing over the chart as she walked down the hall. george suddenly appeared by her side, looking very distressed as he walked with her. "do you look at me like a brother?"
