The next morning, the sun filtered softly through the curtains of your apartment, casting a golden light over the room. You were pacing nervously, waiting for Kendall to arrive. The knot in your stomach hadn't loosened since the fight, and your heart raced as you heard the soft knock on the door.
Taking a deep breath, you opened it to see Kendall standing there, her arms crossed, an unreadable expression on her face. She looked beautiful as always, but there was a lingering tension between you both. Her dog Pyro sat by her side, wagging his tail but even he could sense the awkwardness in the air.
"Hey," you greeted softly, stepping aside to let her in. "Thanks for coming."
Kendall nodded, walking past you into the apartment, her movements still a little stiff. She sat down on the edge of the couch, and you took a seat beside her, keeping a small distance between the two of you.
You sighed, running a hand through your hair. "I know I messed up. Honestly, I feel so bad for how I handled things."
Kendall raised an eyebrow, her tone cool but not cold. "You said you wanted to explain. So, explain."
You swallowed hard, feeling the weight of her eyes on you. "Okay, well... it's really stupid now that I think about it, but I just—I panicked. This is my first real relationship with a girl, you know? And I'm dating you—freaking Kendall Jenner. You're famous, you're gorgeous, you're... intimidating. And I didn't want to mess it up, so when it came to my friends, I got scared."
Kendall's expression softened slightly, though her arms remained crossed. "Scared of what?"
You let out a small, self-deprecating laugh. "Scared they'd tease me about how I was basically obsessed with you before we met. Iris, Olivia, Conan—they all know how much I liked you before. Theyre going to bring it up, and I guess I didn't want you to think I was some weirdo who couldn't stop talking about you. It just felt... embarrassing."
Kendall was quiet for a moment, processing your words. Finally, she sighed, uncrossing her arms. "Okay, I get that. But you should've just told me. You know I don't care what your friends think, especially if it's just teasing. I'm not mad about the party—well, I was—but more than anything, it hurt that you didn't feel like you could be honest with me."
You nodded, guilt bubbling up again. "I know. I was dumb. Really, really dumb."
Kendall gave a small smirk. "Yeah, you were pretty dumb."
You blinked at her in surprise before laughing. "Okay, ouch. But I deserve that."
The tension in the air began to dissolve, and Kendall smiled for the first time since she arrived. "Look, I understand why you were nervous, but next time, just talk to me. I'm here for you, and I want to be part of your life—all of it, even the parts that are messy or embarrassing."
You felt a wave of relief wash over you, and without thinking, you reached out, taking her hand in yours. "I promise. No more secrets. I should've just invited you in the first place. So... can I make it up to you by inviting you now? To the party, I mean."
Kendall pretended to think about it, leaning back on the couch with a dramatic sigh. "I don't know... it is pretty late notice," she teased, a playful smile tugging at her lips. "Plus, you already picked out your costume without me."
You bit your lip, trying not to laugh. "Well, maybe we can coordinate. I was thinking of going as Marceline from Adventure Time. And you... well, you could go as her girlfriend princess bubblegum..."
Kendall raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Princess Bubblegum, huh? Matching costumes? Are we that couple now?"
You grinned. "If you're down, yeah, we are."
Kendall rolled her eyes playfully but then nodded. "Alright, fine. But only because I think we'd look hot."
You laughed, feeling the warmth of her hand in yours. "You're not wrong."
The rest of the day melted into a blur of easy conversations, laughter, and planning your costumes. The tension from earlier had evaporated, replaced by the familiar comfort you always felt around Kendall. You spent the afternoon helping each other with costume ideas, joking about how you'd pull off the perfect Adventure Time duo.

That evening, you both arrived at Iris's childhood home, decked out in your costumes. The house was buzzing with energy—people in various costumes filling the rooms and yard, and the sound of music and chatter spilling out into the crisp autumn LA night.
As soon as you stepped inside, Iris Apatow spotted you from across the room, her eyes lighting up as she walked over with Olivia Rodrigo and Conan Gray in tow. "Well, well, well," Iris teased, her smile wide. "You must be the one she won't stop talking about."
Olivia snickered, giving you a knowing look. "Oh, she talks about you all the time."
Conan leaned in, grinning. "Like, all the time."
You felt your face heat up instantly. "Guys, come on..."
But before you could even try to stop them, Iris turned to Kendall, smirking. "Seriously though, you're all she ever talks about. It's kind of cute, actually."
Kendall, standing confidently beside you in her Princess Bubblegum outfit, simply smiled. "Well, I can't blame her. I'm pretty amazing."
You groaned, but Kendall's hand tightened around yours, grounding you in the moment. She leaned in, her voice soft but teasing. "I'd say I'm equally obsessed with her too."
You glanced at her, a smile tugging at your lips.
Kendall chuckled, leaning in to press a soft kiss to your temple, her lips lingering for just a moment. The trio giggled at your reactions and left the two of you to be. "See? No need to be embarrassed about how you feel. We're good."
As the party continued around you, you and Kendall found a quieter corner of the room, where you could just be together. You leaned into her, feeling the weight of the earlier tension finally lift completely. The world around you faded into the background as the two of you talked, laughed, and shared the moment.
"I'm really glad you came," you murmured, resting your head on her shoulder.
Kendall smiled, wrapping an arm around you. "I'm glad I came too. I'm glad we got over this bump. It was stressing me out." You smiled up at her before she spoke up again. "And I really don't blame you, you know. Anyone would be obsessed with me. I mean, I'm Kendall freaking Jenner, like you said."
"Okay, okay, hot stuff. Take it down, Kendall Jenner. You're lucky I love all of you, ginormous ego and all."
"I love you." Replied Kendall with a smile on her face.
And just like that, the night unfolded perfectly, with the two of you finding your own little piece of bliss in the chaos of the party. Whatever fears or doubts you had melted away, leaving just the two of you—together, happy, and very much in love.
