The quiet hum of the road stretched between you and Kendall as her sleek, black Range Rover glided through the streets. You watched the city lights flicker by, trying to focus on anything but the tension sitting heavy in the car. Kendall hadn't said much since the fight at Kylie's, her jaw tight, fingers gripping the steering wheel a little too hard.

You stole a glance at her, feeling the weight of what just happened between her and Kourtney. "Baby," you started gently, "are you okay?"

Kendall let out a sharp breath through her nose, her gaze fixed on the road. "I'm not the one who got insulted," she muttered, her voice tight with anger she hadn't let go of yet. "I can't believe she said that to you."

Your heart tugged at the frustration in her voice, and you reached out to gently rub her arm. "It's fine, Kendall, really I am. I don't want to make it a big deal."

She shook her head, the tension in her shoulders not easing. "But it is a big deal. She had no right to say what she did. You're my girlfriend; you're a part of my life. Someone I cherish so deeply, someone I can't live without. She has to respect that."

You sighed softly, feeling the familiar pull of wanting to smooth everything over. "Look, I know she was out of line, but she's your sister. She didn't mean it like that. She's just hurt, too."

Kendall's jaw tightened even more as she gripped the steering wheel. "You always do that," she said, her voice laced with frustration. "You're always so quick to defend people, even when they don't deserve it. It's like you don't care about your own feelings."

Her words stung a little, but you tried to brush it off. "I care, Kendall. But Kourtney's family, and I don't want to make things worse between you two."

Kendall's eyes flashed with frustration, and she pulled the car over to the side of the road abruptly, putting it in park. She turned to face you, her voice edged with anger. "But why don't you care about your feelings? She insulted you—you, the person I love most in this world—and you're just sitting here saying it's fine? It's not fine and I'll be damned if I let you or anyone justify it."

Your chest tightened as you saw the emotion boiling up in her, and you felt a wave of guilt. "I just don't want to be the reason you and your sister are fighting even more. This whole thing is already so complicated."

Kendall ran a hand through her hair, exasperated. "You don't get it. It's not about that. I'm mad at Kourtney, not at you. But it's killing me that you're not even mad about what she said. It's like you don't think you matter as much as everyone else."

You swallowed hard, trying to process her words. "I do matter. I just... I don't want to make it about me."

"But it is about you, and it should be," Kendall insisted, her voice softening as she reached for your hand. "I love you. I want you to stand up for yourself, for us."

You looked down at your intertwined fingers, feeling a swell of emotion in your chest. "I guess I just always try to keep the peace, especially with your family. But you're right. I should care more about what she said."

Kendall sighed, her anger slowly ebbing away. She squeezed your hand. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't be taking this out on you. I'm just so mad at her, and I hate that she dragged you into this."

You smiled softly, leaning in to press a gentle kiss to her cheek. "It's okay. We're both upset. But, babe... maybe we should think about making amends with Kourtney. I know she hurt you, but you two are family. I don't want this to drag on."

Kendall frowned, clearly not ready to forgive just yet, but she sighed, leaning back in her seat. "I'll think about it. For you."

You smiled, leaning over to kiss her lips softly. "That's all I ask."
