The elegant ballroom buzzed with laughter and conversation, casting a warm glow under the chandeliers as Kendall and you arrived at the charity event. You were here to sign some movie posters with your cast mates to auction off for charity. Kendall looked effortlessly chic in a black, floor-length dress, her hair styled simply yet perfectly, as she held your hand. She wasn't just here to attend an event—she was here for you, her eyes silently reminding you she was there, no matter what.

Across the room, Kim was already surrounded by a group of people taking her photo. She waved when she spotted you two, flashing you a smile.

You grinned, squeezing Kendall's hand. "Thanks for coming with me. I know these events aren't your favorite," you whispered, leaning close.

Kendall gave a small smile. "I'm here for you, babe," she replied, nudging you.

Just as you both were settling into the event, Jenna Ortega, your former co-star and brief fling, approached with a warm smile, her eyes lighting up as they landed on you. She wore a sleek silver dress and moved closer, greeting you with an unexpected hug that lingered a bit too long for Kendall's liking.

"Hey, you! It's been forever!" Jenna's voice was lively, and Kendall noticed the way her fingers trailed ever so lightly over your shoulder as she pulled away.

"Jenna, it's good to see you!" you replied, flashing a friendly grin. Kendall noted how natural and easy your conversation was. Jenna's presence wasn't a surprise—you'd mentioned she'd be here—but it still struck a chord. Jenna had a way of looking at you, her dark eyes holding something more intense, a spark Kendall couldn't ignore.

Kendall shifted her weight, subtly moving closer to you as Jenna continued talking. She felt a little like an outsider watching a private moment, but she tried to brush it off. You'd always been open with her, and she trusted you. Still, she couldn't help noticing the casual touches Jenna seemed to throw your way—how her hand lingered on your arm a beat too long as she laughed at something you said, or the way her gaze would flit to your lips every now and then.

"So, did you bring anyone special with you tonight?" Jenna asked, glancing around the room.

Kendall cleared her throat, shooting a polite but pointed smile at Jenna. "Yeah, she did. I'm her plus one," she said lightly, looping her arm around your waist for emphasis. It wasn't her typical style, but Kendall wanted Jenna to know that you were very much taken.

Jenna's smile didn't falter. "Right, of course. Nice to see you again, Kendall," she replied, her tone polite but laced with something Kendall couldn't quite place.

You stepped in, sensing the subtle tension, and shot Kendall a reassuring look. "We should grab some drinks," you suggested, but before you could pull away, a photographer nearby gestured for you to take a few photos with Jenna and some other cast members.

Kendall released you with a nod, standing off to the side, watching as you slipped into your professional persona, greeting the press, and posing for pictures. She noticed how, whenever Jenna got a little too close, you'd subtly shift away, keeping things professional but friendly. Kendall's heart softened—she could see you were mindful of her feelings, even in the middle of a crowded event.

Kim wandered over, holding a glass of champagne and giving Kendall a knowing smile. "Jealous much?" she teased, nudging her sister.

Kendall rolled her eyes. "No, it's not that," she replied, brushing it off. "Just... Jenna's handsy, you know?"

Kim laughed, glancing toward you and Jenna. "You're not wrong. But hey, she's only here for the night. You're the one going home with her," she reminded Kendall.
