As the first hint of daylight crept through the curtains, a sharp ringing jolted both of you from sleep. Kendall, half-asleep, groaned, reaching for her phone on the nightstand.

She squinted at the screen. "It's Kim," she murmured, her voice thick with sleep.

"Mm, at 7 a.m.?" you mumbled, pressing your face into the pillow.

Kendall shrugged, answering the call. "Hey, Kim. Everything okay?"

"Everything's fine!" Kim's voice was bright, already fully awake. "I just wanted to invite you two over for a family thing today. Around 4. Just a casual get-together, you know, but also... to celebrate someone's Oscar win!" She sang the last part, clearly thrilled.

Kendall smiled, glancing over at you as she ran her fingers through her messy hair. "That sounds nice... who's gonna be there? Will there be, um, cameras?" Her tone softened, hinting at her reluctance.

"Of course there'll be cameras! Just a couple, though. Mom, Kylie, Khlo, Kourt and some of the kids will be there" Kim assured, catching on to Kendall's hesitation. "Nothing over-the-top, I promise. We just want to document the day, but it's all about the family and celebrating."

Kendall bit her lip, glancing at you. "I'm not sure... You know she's taking a break, and I don't want her to feel pressured."

"Kenny, come on. We're proud of her! It's just the family," Kim coaxed. "Besides, she deserves to be celebrated."

Kendall sighed, sensing Kim's determination. "Alright, alright. We'll be there."

"Great! Can't wait to see you both. And make sure she brings the Oscar!" Kim replied, excitement bubbling in her voice before she hung up.

As Kendall set the phone down, she turned to you, an apologetic smile on her face. "So, that was Kim," she started, brushing her thumb across your hand.

"Yeah, I got that much," you teased, pulling yourself up on the pillow. "What's up?"

"She wants us to come over today. It's, um, kind of a family thing, but also..." Her expression softened as she spoke, a hint of pride shining through. "They want to celebrate you and your Oscar win."

Your face lit up, and Kendall caught it, her hesitation easing. "Really?" you asked, your voice a little shy.

"Yeah. I was worried you might not want to, you know... with the cameras and everything."

You thought about it for a moment, then shrugged. "I think I can handle a couple of cameras for a day. I've been dealing with them for almost 10 years now. Besides, it's sweet of her to want to celebrate, don't you think?"

Kendall grinned, relieved. "I thought so too. I just didn't want to pressure you."

You took her hand, squeezing it. "Thank you. For thinking of that, and for everything."

Her gaze softened, and she gave you a quick kiss. "Anything for you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

The rest of the morning was blissfully slow, filled with coffee and breakfast by the window. You spent the day in comfortable clothes, lounging around, enjoying the feeling of not having anything on your schedule for once. Kendall joined you whenever she wasn't checking in on work emails, and at one point, she pulled you into a lazy, quiet make-out session on the couch. It was the kind of day you'd both been dreaming of—just easy, together, with no obligations or expectations.

Around 3 p.m., you both started getting ready for the gathering at Kim's. You chose something simple but elegant, while Kendall picked out a stylish, relaxed outfit, something just dressy enough to match the occasion.
