Charlie gently closed the door to her office, casting one last glance at Zack, who still sat on the velvet couch, lost in thought. She lets out a sigh, leaning against the door for a moment, her mind buzzing with a mixture of hope and nerves. Deep inside, she truly hoped Zack would accept her offer. It wasn't just a wild idea or gamble, it as her dream, her chance to prove that redemption wasn't just a fantasy in Hell. Heaven wouldn't accept it, and she sure her father wouldn't either, but none of that mattered right now. She wanted to show everyone that doubted her, everyone who said it was impossible, that they were wrong.
A human, a living human, who had pulled himself out of the depths of his own personal hell... he could help those who had been lost to theirs. A soul like Zack's could inspire the demons who had forgotten what it meant to change.
She was still deep in thought, musing over the possibilities Zack could bring to the Hazbin Hotel, when a voice interrupted her.
"Charlie?" It was Vaggie.
Charlie snapped out of her thoughts, her eyes darting toward her girlfriend who was standing just a few feet away, arms crossed, with a concerned look on her face.
"Are you okay?" Vaggie asked, her voice softer now, her usual sharpness replaced with genuine worry.
Charlie straightened up and nodded, her usual bright smile returning. "Yeah, I'm okay. Just.. thinking."
Vaggie's brow furrowed as she glanced at the closed door to Charlie's office. "Who were you talking to in there? I thought I heard another voice."
Charlie hesitated for a moment, biting her lip as she searched for the right words. She knew Vaggie wouldn't be happy about what she had done. Finally, she sighed, deciding honesty was the best route.
"Before you say anything, and please don't get mad," Charlie began, her tone cautious, "but I may have... snatched a living soul down here to help us out."
Vaggie's eyes widened, her hands immediately dropping from their crossed position.
"You what?" She hissed, stepping closer to Charlie, her voice sharp with disbelief. "Why would you bring a mortal soul down here, Charlie? Do you even realize how dangerous that is?"
Charlie raised her hands defensively, her voice quick but calm. "I know, I know. It was a crazy idea and obviously very stupid, but-' She stepped toward Vaggie, her eyes pleading. "-I found someone who I believe can really help us."
Vaggie took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. She pinched the bridge of her nose, her patience visibly thinning. "Do you have any idea what would happen if anyone found out you snatched someone's soul down to hell? And Heaven, if they caught wind of this..."
"I know it's a big risk, Vaggie," Charlie cut in, her voice softening as she reached out to place a gentle hand on Vaggie's. "But I'm not forcing him to stay. He still has a choice. If he says no, I'll send him back, no harm done. But...Vaggie, he's been through so much. What he's gone through, it's not that different from what sinners down here suffer every day."
Vaggie's eyes would lower, softening as she looked at Charlie, though the worry was still etched on her face. "Charlie, you know I support you, but bringing a living soul down here is... it's dangerous. For both of us. What if your dad finds out? Or worse, what if the Exorcist find out?"
Charlie's optimism remained undeterred, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "I won't let it get that far. I really believe Zack can help us. He's someone who fought his demons, literally. He knows what it's like to fall and climb back up. If he can show the demons here that change is possible, then we can actually made a difference."
