Initially, Sarah did cherish Leila. She treated her the same as her own children. And Amelie and Timo, her younger siblings, were also quite fond of Leila.

But such dreamlike times were short-lived.

After the butler and head maid, who had protected Leila, disappeared one after another under the guise of misconduct, Sarah grew colder. Unable to adapt to the changing attitude of her stepmother, Leila struggled not to be abandoned by her family.

She gave everything Amelie and Timo wanted. If Amelie wanted the necklace her birth mother gave her, she would place it around Amelie’s neck. If Timo asked for pocket money, she would give him some of her own. And gradually, such things were as natural as one’s breathing.

As Leila grew up this way, she manifested as an omega at the age of 15. Alphas and omegas were rare compared to betas, and dominant manifestation was extremely scarce. Thus, the manifestation of a dominant alpha or omega in a family was a cause for celebration.

Mostly, alphas and omegas were born into noble families, and for an alpha to have an heir, an omega was necessary, making omegas an invaluable asset to their lineage.

However, Leila’s omega manifestation became a horrific memory instead of being cherished by the family.

Normally, the manifestation period for an omega or alpha took about a week, as the human body transformed into its secondary characteristics, placing a significant strain on the body.

Primarily because of the severe fever, physicians and servants should have been on standby during the manifestation fever.

Strangely, even though Leila’s manifestation news should have become known, no one came to check on her. Anna was no exception.

During the absence of visitors, Leila suffered from high fevers to the point of losing consciousness. Occasionally, someone would leave food but never brought any fever reducers.

Forced to endure the brutal manifestation fever alone, she eventually lost her sight as an aftereffect.

The frustration of that time…

As soon as Leila lost her sight, Sarah, Timo, and Amelie showed their true colors.

But more than their changed attitudes…

It was her father, Benjamin, who hurt her the most.

<At least it’s fortunate you manifested as a hyper-dominant omega. Live modestly and marry strategically for the family’s sake.>

Leila pondered for a long time upon her father’s attitude, which showed no concern. She wondered if she was not his biological child. That must be why he was disappointed with her mother and started a relationship with her stepmother.

If he really was her biological father, wouldn’t that be too miserable?

Leila no longer pondered. Now that she was an adult, she had abandoned any vain hopes. It no longer mattered whether her father was her true father or not.

“Miss, we have arrived. Please wait a moment. I will quickly check the surroundings and come back.”

“Alright.”

Anna first stepped down from the carriage to scope out the surroundings, then came back to drape a robe over Leila, carefully covering her head before taking her hand and helping her down.

“We have to walk a bit.”

“Okay.”

They parked the carriage bearing the Este County’s emblem in a secluded area and hurriedly walked. The place they were in was a street favored by nobles. They had to go further, crossing into the town where commoners lived.

“Oh, right, Miss. John said a suspicious man was looking for you. So, you must absolutely not come out from behind the stage until I come to escort you.”

“Yes.”

“Unfortunately, I will have to listen to your performance from outside today.”

“Why don’t you come inside?”

“I can’t. It’s better not to attract anyone’s attention for no reason.”

“Anna, you’re really so capable. You’ll live well in the future.”

Leila felt relieved inwardly, thinking Anna wouldn’t have to worry after she was gone.

“We’re here, Miss.”

Before Anna’s words reached her, Leila already knew they had arrived. Being blind made her rely more on her other senses.

The noisy sounds from inside the bar let her know they were near the pub. Moreover, Leila had a secret she hadn’t told Anna.

It was the fact that she wasn’t completely blind.

Though blurry, she could vaguely make out some shapes.
