The Emperor was not someone you could meet just because you wanted to. This was not limited to commoners—even nobles could not casually request an audience with the Emperor.
However, in the Camorr Empire, only two people could meet the Emperor at any time, and one of them was Lucas.
“When you’re told to come, you never show up! This troublesome fellow. What brings you here?”
As soon as Lucas entered the audience chamber, the Emperor’s reprimand flew at him.
Although the Emperor spoke harshly, his expression was so joyfully amused that he seemed almost unsure of what to do with himself.
Lucas, familiar with the Emperor’s demeanor, casually approached and bowed deeply towards the Emperor sitting at the high seat.
“I greet Your Majesty, the sun of the Camorr Empire, from Bavenberg.”
“I dislike it every time you do this, it feels like you emphasize our relationship as sovereign and subject rather than family.”
“Is it not correct that it is a relationship of sovereign and subject before family?”
“Before that, you are the beloved son of my dear older sister.”
“…Isn’t your love for your nephew a bit too much?”
“Then, isn’t it your fault? Why did you have to be so capable and admirable?”
Lucas often refrained from visiting because of the Emperor’s overprotective nature. Among the things he found uncomfortable, one particularly came to mind as expected.
The Emperor broached an uncomfortable topic without delay.
“But when exactly do you plan to marry? You are not only the precious child of my sister but also a representative hyper-dominant alpha of the Camorr Empire. Why haven’t you settled down despite having received your title?”
The Emperor hoped that the bloodline of hyper-dominant alphas would continue through the heirs.
He would have been delighted if a hyper-dominant had come from the imperial family, but unfortunately, the Imperial Crown Prince was only dominant.
Even though he knew that his son’s dominant trait was in itself also rare, the Emperor wished for hyper-dominants in the next generation, even if they were not from the imperial family.
“Haven’t I explained this to you before? Being a hyper-dominant doesn’t guarantee that one will have hyper-dominant offspring.”
“But wouldn’t the chances of having a hyper-dominant child be higher if one has several children?”
“I would like to have just one and raise them well, like my parents did.”
“What a lack of patriotism!”
The Emperor shouted and then quickly called for his steward, worried that his nephew might leave soon after such a long absence. The issue of children could be gently persuaded over time.
“Is everything ready?”
“Yes, everything is prepared in the garden.”
“You’re not planning to leave just after arriving to see your uncle, are you?”
Knowing he would have to endure a long time of the Emperor’s nagging if they ended up having tea together, Lucas quickly brought up the main point.
“But then, Your Majesty, I’ve been thinking…”
“Hmm?”
The Emperor looked at Lucas with a displeased face, wondering what bizarre thing he was about to say. If Lucas said he would leave now, the Emperor was ready to detain him in the palace to ensure they had tea and dinner together.
