First let me just say that having any friends that have positive attitudes and lift you up, human interaction is important. Having friends who are writers though, those are the friends you want to have. These friends will get excited with you when you hit a huge milestone in your writing and they are great for bouncing ideas off of. They understand what type of things you want to hear when you ask them to read your writing and they are the first to point out if a plot is unbelievable. Hanging out with friends who are writers is a great way to get yourself out of a writing slump and when you hang out with other writers it's okay to bury your face in a notebook if you have a sudden spark of inspiration. Other friends are nice because you're not both trying to get published, but the best writing friends will bring out the best writer in you.
