Y/N lay in Integra’s bed, staring up at the ceiling. The familiar scent of her perfume lingered in the room, but without her beside him, it felt different—emptier. His body ached for rest, exhaustion tugging at his eyelids, but sleep refused to come. He shifted under the covers, trying to get comfortable, but every time he closed his eyes, he was pulled back to the unsettling reality of the night: Integra was gone, and Alucard was here.
His sister had always been his anchor, her presence a steady comfort no matter what dangers lurked outside their doors. He had gotten used to her calm breathing beside him, the quiet reassurance that everything would be okay. But now, with her gone for weeks, the bed felt too large, too cold, and far too quiet—except for the occasional rustle of movement in the shadows.
Y/N turned onto his side, pulling the blanket tighter around him as if it could fill the absence. But no matter how much he tried, his mind wouldn’t settle. Every time he started to drift off, his thoughts circled back to Alucard, whose presence was impossible to ignore. The vampire was always there, lurking just beyond the edge of his vision, watching.
It wasn’t that Y/N didn’t trust him—he knew Alucard would protect him, just as he had protected both him and Integra before. But trusting Alucard and being comfortable with him were two different things. Alucard was a force of nature, a creature of darkness, and even now, after months of living with him, Y/N still couldn’t fully wrap his mind around the idea of being so close to someone so... inhuman.
With a heavy sigh, Y/N sat up in the bed, his heart pounding with restless energy. He glanced toward the shadowed corner of the room where Alucard had stationed himself. Sure enough, the vampire was there, sitting in an old armchair, his long legs stretched out casually, arms folded across his chest. His eyes—glowing faintly red in the dim light—were locked onto Y/N, observing him with that ever-present amusement.
“You’re not sleeping,” Alucard commented, his voice smooth and deep, cutting through the silence of the room like a blade. It wasn’t a question—he knew.
Y/N rubbed his eyes, not bothering to respond. Of course, he wasn’t sleeping. How could he with Alucard just sitting there like some statue, completely still and predatory?
“I’m not used to... this,” Y/N admitted quietly, gesturing vaguely around the room. He hesitated, unsure if he wanted to continue, but the words spilled out anyway. “I’ve been sleeping with my sister for so long, and now...”
“And now you have me,” Alucard finished, his tone dripping with amusement.
Y/N sighed, turning his gaze away from the vampire’s piercing eyes. “It’s not the same.”
“No, it’s not,” Alucard agreed, his grin widening. “But I can assure you, you’ll get used to it. Just as you’ve gotten used to everything else.”
Y/N didn’t respond, his thoughts too tangled to form a coherent reply. He stared down at his hands, feeling a strange mixture of anxiety and frustration bubbling inside him. This wasn’t how he wanted things to be. He didn’t want to feel so helpless, so dependent on someone else—especially not on Alucard.
