The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow over Y/N's room. The faint warmth of dawn settled over him, but he hardly noticed; he was nestled in Alucard's arms, shielded from the world. It felt surreal to have him back, after so many weeks filled with worry and loneliness. Now, Alucard’s solid presence by his side was a balm to every ache Y/N had endured in his absence.
Y/N shifted slightly, careful not to disturb the vampire who lay still beside him, only his hand resting lightly over Y/N’s shoulder to hold him close. He could feel the weight of Alucard’s arm draped around him, the coolness of his touch somehow comforting. Every rise and fall of Alucard’s chest was steady, unchanging, like a silent promise of security and calm.
After a few moments, Alucard's eyes slowly opened, glowing faintly in the dim light. He gazed down at Y/N, and a small smile softened the usual sharpness in his gaze. He tightened his hold on Y/N, drawing him even closer until Y/N's head rested against his chest.
“You’re up early, little one,” Alucard murmured, his voice a low, familiar rumble.
Y/N smiled, letting his fingers trace soft, meandering patterns over Alucard’s hand. “I didn’t want to waste any time,” he whispered. “It’s been so long. I just want to be close to you.”
Alucard’s expression softened even further, a rare, tender look crossing his face. He reached out with his free hand, brushing a few strands of hair away from Y/N’s face. “And here I thought I was the only one who missed this,” he murmured, an almost teasing tone in his voice.
Y/N felt his cheeks warm, but he laughed softly, squeezing Alucard’s hand. “Maybe you don’t know how much I missed you,” he admitted. “It was… hard without you all here.”
Alucard’s smile faded a little, replaced by a serious expression. “I should have found a way to reach out,” he said quietly. “To let you know we were safe.”
Y/N shook his head, resting his cheek against Alucard’s chest. “You’re here now. That’s all that matters.” He snuggled closer, savoring the feeling of Alucard’s arm wrapped around him, the safety he felt in his presence.
Alucard’s hand moved gently, his fingers threading through Y/N’s hair in a soothing, rhythmic motion. “You’re far too forgiving, you know that?” he murmured.
Y/N closed his eyes, his smile softening as he leaned into the touch. “Maybe. But I think you’re worth it.”
For a moment, Alucard was silent, and Y/N wondered if he’d somehow said the wrong thing. But then he felt Alucard’s hand slip down to cup his face, tilting it up so their gazes met.
“Little one,” Alucard said, his tone almost reverent, “you don’t know how much your words mean to me.” His thumb brushed over Y/N’s cheek, gentle and warm.
Y/N’s heart fluttered, and he bit his lip, feeling a rush of emotions he still couldn’t quite name. “I just… I’m really glad you’re back,” he whispered, his voice barely audible. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this relieved in my life.”
