Sophie Foster missed her parents, friends, family. But, what could she do. All she saw was darkness. Pure, suffocating darkness. All that was left was to hope. Hope that there is light at the other side of the pitch black void. Hope that there was someone on their way to rescue her. Hope that the mysterious kidnappers wouldn't kill  her.

Two Days Earlier : 16th October 2024

Sophie walked the long halls of Havenfield and down the stairs to the living room. There, Grady sat with an Imparter in his hands. He was probably talking to Alden. They had been talking a lot about something recently. No, not something, her.

She had been witnessing changes in her daily habits and routine. She showed a lot of attitude and sass. A lot of mood changes. A lot of abnormal things. And one more thing which she hadn't told anyone yet. She had the will to murder someone when she was furious. Literally murder someone. Thank god Fitz was there whenever something made her furious. He always had this way to calm her down.

She took a lone custard burst that was sitting on the dining table, and came to the living room to sit next to Grady.

"Hey. How are you doing?" he asked, as she made her way to the couch.

"I'm fine. What are you reading?" She spotted the scroll in his hands.

"Oh, this thing. It's nothing. I gotta go. Will you be okay with Edaline here?" The nervousness in his voice told her that she would have to steal the secret from him.

As Grady went wherever the heck he was going, Sophie slipped into his office. The desk was clattered with long scrolls and papers with Grady's messy hand-writing. The library was filled with books arranged in alphabetical order. The floor was covered with a blood red rug, painted with dark pink flowers. The window on the front wall of the office was huge, displaying the... moonlark enclosure?  Havenfield didn't have a moonlark enclosure!

Focus, Sophie. Your here for something else.

She walked to the cluttered, crowded desk. She leafed through the the scrolls finally settling on the one buried the deepest. It was a prophecy.

This will be interesting. Let's see what's written:

An experiment of 16 years young, run amok on the Lost Cities' streets,

As Havenfield's doorbell rung.

To avoid this fate, keep her away from sweet melodies until the dusk of the third day.

Else, she'll run away.

Maybe the prophecy's talking about me. But, how could this ever happen? Sweet melodies? Has Grady told Edaline about all this?

Millions and billions of questions raced through her head. But the question that hurt the most was: Why didn't Grady just tell me?

Night time : The same day

Sophie crawled into her bed for bed time. Edaline came to tuck her in.

"Hey honey. Sorry, Grady can't tuck you in today. He's gone on some urgent job for the council." Edaline sat on the edge of her bed, tucking a strand of her hair.

Perfect! Time to test my theory.

"Edaline, can you sing to me, today? It's just, Calla used to do it and, it comforted me."

"What do you want me to sing?"

"A lullaby." She showed a fake plead of desperation in her face and Edaline agreed.

"Sleep, little one, close your eyes.
Your body's coolin' with the night,
Let your worries slip away.
Tomorrow is a brand new day..."

"Thanks mom."

She wasn't feeling any different. Ha! Grady was wrong. Or was he...

Midnight : The same day

Sophie was fast asleep. But at midnight, she woke. And she ran amok through the Lost Cities...
