Grady walked towards the new verminion enclosure, full on ready to bathe the stinky creatures. But, his mind refused to wander away from the thought that Sophie had readily broken into his office, stolen the prophecy, and deliberately disobeyed him.
Grady sighed. Fostering children could sometimes be so difficult. They knew their parents weren't their real parents and thought disobeying them was ok. But, Sophie wasn't like that. She was always kind. She always listened. But, she wasn't that person anymore.
What could be the reason for that? Grady pondered on that thought for a while. He had almost finished feeding all 10 verminions when he found out.
She's just been appointed the heir to the throne. Only the Neverseen can do that. They must've sent me the prophecy. Knowing Sophie's current state of sassy come-backs, they must've done that too. This is all Neverseen!
Grady was outraged! He went to tell Edaline, but stopped. No, she'll try to get Sophie back. No one can know except the one who always used to calm her down. Keefe Sencen!!! It just had to be that boy, didn't it!?
Same day : Some random cave : 2:00 p.m.
Keefe looked up and down his culprit wall again. "So, only Alvar and Ruy can get close to Sophie. Close enough to cast their stupid spell. But, Lady Gisela controls it all from the inside. And Glimmer has some part in all that." he sighed.
Some one behind him clapped. Keefe whipped around to find Grady, standing at the entrance of the cave. A nervous chuckle escaped his lips. He'd never been exactly friends with Grady Ruewen, but he always wanted to try.
"What can I do for you, Lord Ruewen."
"Please, call me Grady." He knew he had to be kind to the Sencen boy, but, it was so much easier being mad.
"Ok, Grady. The question still stands." Keefe replied, a little sass in his tone.
"I need to tell you something..."
Same day : Lumenaria : The Princess's castle : 2:15 p.m.
Sophie signed the last autograph of a little girl and sighed. "Come back tomorrow, little one." The girl giggled. "Thanks, but I think you've signed enough of my autographs. Or everyone's autographs." She giggled again and skipped away.
Sophie stood, examining the empty room. She felt someone was watching her. Like eyes on the back of her neck. She unclasped a dagger from her boot and said "I know your out there."
"I know."
"Then why bother sneeking up to me?"
"Because I want to see who wins."
A girl leaped from somewhere in the shadows and pushed Sophie to the ground. She struggled to breathe as the girl choked her with a scarf.
"Who are you?" Sophie managed to choke out.
"I go by many names, but the most common, Black Widow."
The girl was distracted, so, Sophie kicked and flailed until she fell off. Now she had the advantage. She swung her dagger towards Black Widow's head. But, she dodged and let out a purple plume of smoke from her hands. Surprisingly, she duplicated and they continued to fight until both got tired.
"Your the only one I can't beat."
"I'm Yelena. You are?"
"Sophie."
"Hello, Sophie. Do you know where I might find the Princess?"
"I'm the Princess."
"Oh."
Awkward silence filled the room and left them both stunned. Sophie went back to sitting on her throne. Just then, the door flew open and in came Grady, Keefe and the entire collective along with the council.
