"Sophie?"
"Yeah... you remember me? I thought you would've forgotten me. I'm not that important to you anyway..."
"What?!" Keefe really liked Sophie. In fact, he had a huge crush on her. She was fair, he cheeks were rose pink, her lips were the same color. Her blonde hair brushed against her face like heaven, her body type was perfect. And her waist fit perfectly into his arms, he had realized that when she had collapsed onto him in the sanctuary. He remembered that moment, it's the warmest he'd ever felt. And the happiest.
"Why are you suddenly thinking about that awkward moment. Ugh..."
Keefe had forgotten he could see her thoughts. "Wait don't-"
He blocked her from those awkward memories. "Ugh... Now your making me want to see them."
"Their private!" She chuckled. "I never forgot how fun it is to annoy you."
Same day : Alluveterre : 4:00 p.m.
Tam thought about what Elwin had said the other day about Keefe. He had to be Keefe? he had to be the person he hated most? He had to be a... a... a Sencen?
He sat down at the table for tea, as he waited for his friends to arrive. Slowly, one by one, they made their way to the Black Swan's secret hideout.
"What took you guys so long?" Tam asked, as Fitz sat beside him. And Marella on his other side. The Marella. The only person he actually liked out of everyone, even Sophie!
"Hey Marella? What do cows do on date nights? Go to the mooooovies!"
Tam started laughing loudly, but trailed off right after he stared at the others looks. Not even a smile. Am I really that bad at cracking jokes?
"Ok, let's move on..." Mr. Forkle said, appearing out of no where, again... "Keefe's still not doing well, I presume."
"No, he still has his consciousness."
"Wonderful. Now, back to urgent matters. The Neverseen will corrupt each and every part of the Lost Cities. Me and the rest of the council will brain-storm ideas. In the meantime, I want you kids, to observe and report to me about Alvar Vacker."
"Alvar? Why do we need to spy on Alvar?"
"I have reason to believe this Neverseen business might be too much for him. He's the one who told the Ruewens about the crowning so they could get Keefe and the rest of your friends inside the hall. Else, they would've never made it, what with all the security."
"Sorry Sophie, but reality is the kind of tea that's hard to swallow." Tam took another turn. At least, he got a few chuckles and giggles here and there. Even Marella cracked a smile.
"I think he had a recent break-up with one of the Neverseen's members anyway."
"Hey, guys. Why did 0 and 2 break up? 'Cause some one came in between them!" This time a couple of girls giggled and the boys just glared at Tam. He knew Keefe would've taken advantage of that moment.
"Anyway" Mr. Forkle interrupted, clearly agitated "will you do the job?"
"Ok, sure. But, how will we do the job? We can't just waltz into a Neverseen base." Biana pointed out.
"Yes, but you can trick the Neverseen. Sophie, you can tell them that your back on their side. Of course, they'll give you various enchantments like last time, but nothing friendship can get you out of. You will figure out all their plans, and work for us on the inside. They will know that something's wrong, but it'll be Alvar, betraying them. Then, Lady Gisela will lose her guard. That is the moment that we strike. If anything goes wrong, the entire organization, will fall, and the Lost Cities with it." Mr. Forkle paused to take a deep breath. Then turned to the children.
"You don't know how crucial this operation is."
"Why?" Linh asked.
"Because, Keefe's life depends on it."
