Maria groaned as she opened her eyes, her phone buzzing like it was tryna shake her out of bed. She could still feel last night's exhaustion clinging to her. between handling the twins and the party that went down later, she barely got any rest. Rel's birthday had been worth every second, but today was already on some chaos vibes.
her phone wouldnt quit buzzing, so she grabbed it, blinking against the brightness. a missed call from Diana, her manager. plus, way too many notifications from insta and messages from her friends.
just as she was sitting up, the phone buzzed again—Diana calling back.
"Maria, thank goodness you answered," Diana said, "Have you seen it?"
"Seen what?" Maria mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
"Check The Shade Room. It's all over their page... You were out with two kids yesterday?"
A half-asleep Maria squinted, unlocking her phone and scrolling through to open the app. Right at the top of her feed, bold as anything, a post from The Shade Room caught her eye

Maria's jaw dropped. "No way. They're... they're talking about Amy and James?"
she could almost feel Diana nodding on the other end. "Looks like it. they're twisting it as if they're yours."
Maria sighed, already exhausted by the drama waiting for her. she stared at the post, watching the comments flood in under her posts. A few people even tagged her, adding their own wild takes on the "story."
"So, what now?" Maria asked Diana, trying to figure out how to handle this.
"Well, that's up to you," Diana replied. "If youre up for it, a live could clear things up quickly. It's getting traction, so its better you address it now rather than let it blow up more."
a live? that wasnt exactly on her plan for the day, but she knew it could shut this down fast. "Alright, I'll go live"
"You've got this, love. Speak your truth." Diana said before she hangs up.
Maria glanced back at the post. she took a breath, set her phone to start a live, and then stared at the camera as her viewers started joining. the comments rolled in fast—everything from excitement to full-on "Is this for real?"
"Ayo," Maria started, running a hand through her hair, "Ima just clear this up real quick cause some of y'all got me twisted. those two lil' kids in the post? they're not mine. thats one of my guy friend's siblings. I was just out with them yesterday, thats all."
Her followers were blowing up the comments, some laughing, others being like, "Ohhh, makes sense now!"
"And honestly, the fact yall thought that was wild. like, do I even look like I got kids? but anyways, thats that. appreciate yall who actually use your brain out here.
As the comments kept coming in, she felt the relief of setting the record straight. She ended the live, feeling lighter but still shaking her head at how quickly things got blown up.
MEANWHILE..
dd leaned back, adjusting his headset, barely paying attention to the chat that was blowing up about Maria. he and dd were mid game, focused, and uninterested in the usual drama that popped up online.
but as soon as they finished their round, the chat got too crowded with questions to ignore
"Yo, what's up with Maria having kids?" "dd, check The Shade Room, bro! Your girl's out here with two kids!" "Ayo, is that true about Maria?"
dd scoffed, giving ddot a side glance. "they tryna play us with that mess? Maria with kids? cmon now." he glanced back at the chat, smirking a little. "she ain even got time for all dat. yall actin wild."
ddot shrugged, half laughing but with a lowkey glare in his eyes. "I seen it earlier. folks got no chill with how fast they start assuming things."
The chat exploded again, and dd rolled his eyes as he scrolled, finally deciding to address it. "Look, yall, I ain gotta say much. Maria already handled it herself. those are her friend's lil siblings, thats it. she took em out, and next thing you know, yall start plottin' whole family trees."
"Yeah, for real. this the same girl who'll text back once a month, tops, but suddenly shes supposed to have kids? I swear, some of yall need a hobby." ddot added, more seriously.
the chat kept firing off messages, some laughing at their reactions, others egging them on. dd noticed and shook his head, still half amused.
"When yall be talkin smack shes probably somewhere laughin it off right now, and yall still pressed in my chat." ddot said.
they shared a quick laugh before starting another game, finally steering the conversation back to the stream. for now, at least, they'd cleared up the rumor for those watching—but they knew it probably wasn't going away anytime soon.
