SIX MONTHS AGO

I slam the bedroom door behind me, basically shaking the whole apartment with it. Walker's head snaps towards me. He's sitting on the floor, playing cards with Quinn.

"Fucking hell," Jack says, raising a brow. "What has you all wired up."

I shove Walker and Jack's bunk, anger bubbling inside of me. "Fuck you all," I say, kicking a pile of clothes right at Quinn.

Walker bites the inside of his cheek, glancing over at her before shooting up and taking a step towards me.

He shoves me against the door, an angry look on his face.

"Watch it," I say, shoving him into the ladder of Mak's bunk. "You first," he raises his voice, shoving me back.

I go to speak again but he points a finger in my face. "No you listen, for this whole entire fucking month you've been a pain in the ass. Throwing shit, yelling at everyone, snapping for no reason. I don't know why you think that's such a good idea when a door down is a man who will beat you to a pulp if you even talked back to him, so fix it before I have to take the backlash when you decide to be Mr.Moody."

By now, Walker has my shirt jumbled up in his hands. I look down in shame. He isn't wrong, most of the time when someone did something wrong, mostly me because I seemed to fuck up the most, Walker took the consequences.

Like one time about a year ago he was out doing whatever a fifteen year old boy does, he came home to Robby having Jack pinned up against the wall.

I remember standing in the doorway high out of my mind when Walker came sprinting across the apartment and using his full body to send Robby to the ground.

Of course, that only gave Jack time to scramble away to the kitchen before Robby had his anger aimed at Walker.

I don't remember what happend after that, me and Jack must of intervened some way because we both woke up with bruises.

I could name a million more times when Walker had protected all of us, too many to count.

Shoving him off me I grab my school backpack off the ground. "Yeah whatever."

That's not what I wanted to say, but that's the first time that came out of my mouth.

When I'm walking down the fire escape stairs and onto the busy streets I can't even remember what my original outburst was about, it had nothing to do with my friends even though I took it out on them. Maybe something with Sammy.

I lean against some random shop, it's closed and all the lights inside are off but an LED light hangs above the window I'm on. Making the sidewalk around me a hue of purple and blue.

I light a cigarette, taking a long drag. "Hey." I jump, looking to my side.

Alea is looking up at me, a soft smile on her face. "Hey," I mutter back, hanging her the blunt.

She blows out the smoke directly into my eyes, letting out a quiet laugh when I shove her.

Now, she's fully facing me. Her long blonde hair blows in the breeze, the purple lights making it look like it's almost glowing.

She tucks a piece of hair behind her ear. "Whatcha staring at?"

I put my free hand on her lower back, and she giggles. She puts her hand on the back of my neck and pulls me closer. "Hm?" She hums.

I push her up against the roll up security gate making a loud sound. We stare at each there for a moment before I inch my hand up her back and under her small crop top.

She shivers, looking up at me. Then, she hooks both of arms around the back of my neck, pulling herself up to my lips.

The hand that holds the cigarette is hooked around her neck, creating a trail of smoke from behind her head.

Her soft lips smash against mine, and our breathing becomes heavy. Alea's make their way to my jaw, holding it in a tight grip as the kiss deepens.

My heart pounds as my hand makes its way to the front of her body, her whole body shivers again.

I move away from her lips, trailing all the way down to her neck, sucking on it roughly.

"Ares," she's breathes. "We can't do this."

I move away, laying my head on her shoulder as we both catch our breathes. "Nobody will see us, and plus it's New York no one cares."

I put my hands her bony hips as our eyes meet.

"No I mean," she starts, pulling away from me and leaning against the gate again. "We can't be doing this."

I pull away this time. "What?"

"Me and you. It can't happen."

My voice raises. "What? Why not?"

She swallows harshly. "It's the circumstances...it's just different."

"Then no one has to know," I whisper, tucking a piece of sweaty hair behind her ear.

"We live together, Ares."

I bite my lip, looking down at her.

"Causal for now, okay? Just until we get out of this dump."

I nod. "Alright, casual."

She smiles, placing a quick kiss on my cheek—stealing the almost burnt out cigarette out of my hand. Alea sprints back to the apartment and back up the fire escape.

I stare up at the sky. What the fuck just happend?

GUYS. Don't cancel me for incest...I just wanted to say that it's more of a group home situation, which still makes it weird so I'm not really acting on any of the relationships until they get out (spoiler? kind of?) but it's less of they view each other as foster siblings and more like other teenagers that they just live with, you know?
