My social worker smiles awkwardly at me, knocking at the door again. She seems nice, I mean she gave me a lollipop so she gets some brownie points.
Walker was the first to leave the apartment. I think he went to...Colorado? No, it was Connecticut, yeah Connecticut.
I hope nice people live in Connecticut, Walker deserves to live with nice people for once.
Next was me, apparently the state had been trying to contact some relative I had for hours while me and my friends sat on the concrete.
And with it being New York, there was lots of other kids that needed more attention then some girl in need of a place to stay.
Currently, they gave up trying to call them so the next best option was dropping me off on the doorstep. Like Annie, you're never fully dressed without a smile...right?
I smile back at her, my cheeks turning red. The trash bag in my hand crinkles for the fifth time in ten minutes making me want to bash my head against the wall.
"I don't wanna join the chur-" The door swings open to reveal a young man. His eyebrows knit in confusion as he used his hand to run a hand through his sandy blond hair, similar to mine.
"Nolan Ambrose?" My social worker reads off the clipboard, glancing at me then back at him.
I look down at my shoes that are falling apart. This is so embarrassing.
He swallows harshly. "Yes." Nolan pauses for a moment. "That's me."
"Finally," Ms. Davis mutters under her breath. "Nolan, you are the closing living relative to Quinn Ambrose, she is your full sister correct?"
My head snaps up, sister? I never thought I would have a brother, of course I had Ares and Jack who I viewed as brothers (Walker was way more of a brother in my eyes) but a real brother a blood brother.
Of course I knew blood didn't mean everything, I had my friends families to prove it. Sometimes being blood related to someone made them treat you worse.
"I guess..." Nolan trails off, turning to me. "Why?"
"Quinn here, has been removed from a group home for circumstances we can discuss later. But with you being the closet relative you have gained custody of her."
