Will You? : An overview

This poem is a bit different than the usual ones I write. When you read it, it feels like some sort of conversation between two people.
You find one of them continuously questioning the other person's intentions and trying to know more.
This person has been hurt by countless friends in the past and is trying to ask her new 'friend'  if she truly is a genuine person and if she is willing to support her through thick and thin.
She wants to know if she is willingly dedicating  herself towards their friendship and if she is going to accept her despite her imperfections.

Yet the main climax comes about in the last two verses of the poem where you find out that there was no 'new friend' to begin with.
All this time, it was just the girl talking with herself. With her reflection.
She is drowning in the depths of her own emptiness and in her desperation to be accepted, she ends up talking with herself in the mirror.
She acknowledges that fact as well and to display this acceptance, I end the poem on a sarcastic, nonchalant note.
Now in the ending I also wanted to portray how we sometimes disguise our pain with a fake mask of
"I'm doing fine"
Or maybe " I'm alright".
Most of us hide our feelings this way
because pretending to be fine is much easier than explaining the reason for our agony.

She even accepts the fact that she really does wish to be accepted by people even though she doesn't always express it ,and she realises that all the conversation she  had was just with herself.
This girl is trying to find a friend within herself. Trying to love her for herself despite her scars or her past. She snaps out of her delusion in the end and continues on her own introspection despite her realization.

"Turns out,
I had been carried away
by my dream of acceptation,
I even started conversing,
With my own reflection. "

I'm not much of a motivating speaker, but I hope this poem helps anyone to come to terms with themselves. To accept themselves despite their flaws or their past.
The past will always teach us a lesson be it good or bad.
Accept and respect yourself first before seeking validation from others.Recieve  positive criticism and improve yourself too. It's fine to talk with yourself, some people call it madness, we call it cheap and effective therapy.
Take care.
