Chapter 3-Dinner with the Louds

Hearing the school bell ring, you walked to your locker grabbing your homework and putting it in your bag. You were about to zip it when you jumped feeling a tap on your shoulder. "My dad told me to ask you if you wanted a ride back home," Lynn said "Since it's on the way." Hearing this, you turned around.

"I... yeah sure." You replied, while zipping up your bag and following her out to the van. You smiled at Luna and then Lucy as you climbed in. "Hi Mr. Loud How was your day?" You asked.
"Fantastic! Thanks for asking." He smiled. You smiled back and buckled your seatbelt. You had felt eyes on you but ignored them, choosing to keep your eyes forward. You saw your house and the loud house came into vision and grabbed your bag. As Lynn opened the door, you crawled out after her and walked into the living room of the Loud house.

"Excuse me, may I borrow your phone to ask my parents?" You asked, nodding your head towards their phone. Lynn Loud sr nodded and walked to the living room to find Lilly. You walked over to the phone and dialed in your house number, waiting for an answer. One beep, then two, and then the gentle voice of your mother.

"Hello, Thompson residence." She spoke softly.
"Hi mom, I'm at the Loud house, Mr. and Mrs. Loud want to know if you guys want to have dinner over her." You spoke gently. Within minutes she was agreeing and said she'd be right over. Walking back over to the couch you sighed and began to speak "They're on their way"

"Awesome, I'll tell Rita." Lynn Loud sr spoke, "Go upstairs and hangout with Lynn."
"What about Luna?" You said KNOWING it'd be awkward talking to Lynn.
"No no, Luna is practicing for her concert tomorrow." Lynn sr replied, staring at you. With those words you nodded and walked your way up the stairs. You stopped in front of Lynn's door and waited, thinking hard on if you really wanted to enter. After a moment you decided to go hide away in the bathroom but before you could walk away, Lynn opened the door and stared at you.
"Need something?" She questioned in her raspy voice.

"Your dad told me to... hang out in here while waiting for dinner." Looking around the room as she let you enter, you saw loads of sports stuff. Metals, pictures, certificates, hats, ect. And then you looked to the other side of the room, and oh my darkness. You didn't truly care for the look but that side of the room was darker than your eye bags, and that said something.

The only thing you could assume was that Lynn shared a room with Lucy. "Ignore it, your in here for me, right?" Lynn said, almost in a flirting way. Or atleast you hoped so.
"Yeah... so did you do the homework?" You asked.

"No. I had basketball practice so I chose not to. I didn't have time, besides basketball season is about to end so I have to start my baseball training." Lynn replied.

Of course another sport. You wished you could have the same motivation as her. Obviously now that you'd decided to try out for cheer you'd have to put in the extra work, but she did sport after sport while most days you got home and sat on your bed doing stupid stuff, like scroll on socials, or mess with your bracelets. Meanwhile she spent her freetime training.

Lynn noticed the zoning and watched you stare at the wall. "Is the wall suddenly more interesting than my sports talk?" She started to feel like she was annoying for blabbering about her favorite sports.

You looked at her and spoke "No sorry, I spaced. What were you saying?"
Lynn took that as keep going and immediately started talking again, "I really like basketball but baseball is right up there..." As she continued to ramble, you found yourself staring at her beautiful eyes, long lashed, and occasionally her lips. Every few moments you'd let a 'mhm' or 'yeah' or a nod slip to let her know you still heard bits and pieces. "...Whats your favorite sport?" She asked.

"I used to do volleyball but I can't anymore. My receives and serves aren't as good. Cheerleading is easier. I tried it last year. Only quit because I got a concussion." You spoke in a mumble, trying to subtly look at her without blushing. She smiled and fist pumped.

"YESSS! I KNEW IT!! I COULD HAVE SWORN YOU DID REAL SPORTS!" She yelled with a laugh. Just seeing her get all excited made you smile. She was really cute like that. For a moment you flourished in the warmth of seeing that smile until your heart began to ache, because you'd remembered hearing a boy in the hallway say he was going to ask her out to be his date to a party. She'd almost forgot that Lynn is probably straight. Probably because well... LYNN WAS MOST CERTAINLY NOT STRAIGHT!! EVEN LUNAS GAYDAR WAS GOING OFF!

On the outside of Lynn looking straight, she was most definitly NOT thinking straight. Because all she could think about was how bad she wanted to kiss you. She truly thought about leaning in too. And then... "KIDS TIME FOR DINNER!!"

All thoughts of kissing you diminished because she hadn't eaten since lunch, and when she says she's hungry, she's STARVING. Lynn was dragging you down the stairs in second. Lasagna was supposed to be made for dinner so she was most excited. You on the other hand could only smile and try to be as quick as her so you wouldn't trip. The food looked delicious. Truly, straight out of a very detailed cartoon.

Within moments of sitting down you were chowing down. Lynn had to take a double take because she'd never seen you eat so quickly, not even herself had. After you finished chewing you looked up, "What? I haven't eaten all day and it's delicious." And then you proceeded to eat more.
As the sun began to set your parents rose along with yourself. "Thank you for the dinner, we'll be on our way, perhaps we can do this again next week" Your mother spoke. As you readied to walk out the door with them, you shared a glance with Lynn and exitted. That was some well made dinner you'd agree. But the better part of the meal was spending it with Lynn.

You'd never even realized how much you'd enjoyed her presence. In fact, you enjoyed it a lot. You felt very relaxed.
