The sun began to set as the grand farewell ceremonies at Kalinga came to an end. Duryodhan and Asmi both stood prepared to leave. The grandeur of the swayamvar had passed, but what remained in the air between them was something far more personal, far more profound.

As Duryodhan bid farewell to the king of Kalinga, his mind was on Asmi. He had to see her, to speak with her one last time before they left. His eyes scanned the crowd until they landed on her, standing a little away, lost in thought.

Seizing the moment, Duryodhan made his way toward her, his heart pounding. "Asmi," he called softly.

She turned, her eyes widening as she saw him approaching. There was something in his gaze, something that made her breath catch.

"Come with me for a moment," he whispered urgently, looking around to ensure they wouldn't be noticed.

They walked to a quiet site, away from the eyes of the courtiers. The air between them was charged with unspoken feelings, heavy with the weight of all that had been left unsaid.

Duryodhan took a deep breath, his voice low and filled with emotion. "Asmi, I cannot leave without saying this. I've tried to hold back, but I can't any longer. I love you. I have loved you for a long time now and I want you in my life, not as a distant memory but as my wife, my partner. My heart has been yours from the beginning."

Asmi's heart raced at his words, her mind swirling with emotions. She had longed to hear this, to feel this certainty in him, but in that moment, words failed her. She looked into his eyes, her own filled with the feelings she could not speak aloud.

And then, before she could think it through, she leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on his cheek. It was a gentle act, but the meaning behind it was clear. She pulled back, her face flushing with shyness, and without another word, she turned and ran, leaving Duryodhan rooted to the spot.

He stood there, stunned, his hand brushing the spot where her lips had touched his cheek. A smile slowly spread across his face. She hadn't spoken but her actions had spoken louder than words ever could.

Meanwhile, Shakuni, who had been weaving the web of deceit with his ever-calculating mind, received a letter from Gandhar. His brows furrowed as he read the contents. It seemed trouble was brewing in his kingdom. Quietly, he made his way to Dhritrashtra.

"I must return to Gandhar, maharaj." Shakuni said, his tone grave. "There are matters that require my attention."

Dhritrashtra nodded. "Of course, Gandharraj. You may."

With a final glance, Shakuni left Hastinapur, his mind already plotting his next moves but now focused on his homeland.

Asmi, sitting quietly in her chariot as it moved away from Kalinga, couldn't stop thinking about Duryodhan. His words echoed in her mind, stirring emotions she hadn't fully processed before. She smiled to herself, remembering how much she had loved the idea of exchanging letters with her first love back in her time unfortunately, she had never got an opportunity to fall in love there. The thought struck her perhaps she could do it now.

"Letters..." she whispered to herself, a sense of warmth spreading through her at the idea of writing to Duryodhan, of expressing her feelings on paper.

Just then, Krishna, sitting beside her, spoke up, breaking her chain of thoughts. "You're thinking about him, aren't you?"

Asmi blushed but didn't deny it. "I... I don't know how to move forward, bhrata. I wish to spend my life with him by my side. It's too much, bhrata. I feel so much, but I don't know what the next step should be."

Krishna smiled, his voice gentle but wise. "The heart knows the way, Asmi. But sometimes, we need to seek help from those who can guide us."

"Who?" she asked, curiosity piqued.

Krishna's eyes twinkled. "Why not speak to Balaram dau? He is Yuvraj Duryodhan's guru, after all. If anyone can help convince pitashree to consider a proposal from Hastinapur, it's him. And who better to understand the depths of Yuvraj's respect than Balaram?"

Asmi looked at Krishna, realizing this suggestions being the best. "Do you think bhrata Balaram would help?"

Krishna nodded. "He will, if your heart is set on this path. But you must be certain, Asmi. Are you ready for that step?"

Asmi didn't need to think for long. She knew what her heart wanted. "I am."

Back in his chariot, Duryodhan leaned back, his mind no longer filled with doubts. Asmi's silent confession had cleared away his uncertainties. His feelings for her were strong and true, and he knew now what he needed to do.

"Jyesht," he said suddenly, turning to his friend. "I'm going to speak to my parents about sending a marriage proposal to Dwarka."

Karna raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile tugging at his lips. "Oh? So it seems the swayamvar wasn't what captured your attention after all."

Duryodhan chuckled. "No, it wasn't. My heart has always been with Asmi. The swayamvar was just a formality. Now, I have to act on what truly matters."

Karna clapped him on the back. "I'm happy for you, Duryodhan. It seems fate has finally brought you some clarity."

Duryodhan smiled, determined. "Yes, and I won't let anything or anyone stand in the way of this."

As Duryodhan and Asmi's thoughts were consumed with love and plans for the future, a shadow loomed over the horizon. Deep in the forests beyond Kalinga, a group of wandering sages gathered around a fire, their faces grave as they discussed a dark omen that had appeared in the stars.

One of the sages, his voice trembling with urgency, spoke to the others. "The demon Rutikasur is awakening. His power has been dormant for centuries, but now... the signs are clear. He will rise again, and when he does, he will bring destruction to the lands."

Another sage nodded. "It is said that only the bravest of warriors can stand against him. But this demon is no ordinary foe. His wrath will be unlike anything we have seen."

The prophecy was heard by the winds and whispered across the kingdoms. A dark force was arriving, and it would soon threaten the lives of all who lived in its path.

As Duryodhan's chariot rolled toward Hastinapur, and Asmi's thoughts were filled with love, neither knew that far away, a great darkness was preparing to descend upon them all.
