Rue's POV:
I HAVE NEVER been the clumsy type. I also have great pain tolerance which is why it makes no sense how I fell.
When Derek and I walked out, it just so happens that his grandfather, Edward Smith was only making an entrance.
He was sat on his wheelchair and somehow it landed on my foot. A mistake of course. However, instead of handling it with ease, I fell and sprained my ankle.
How. Fun.
So here I am, sat inside one of the many rooms this place has, with Derek.
I was using an ice pack to ease the pain and Derek was pacing around the room out of worry. I don't know why, because he wouldn't tell me.
"Can you stop?" I yelled in frustration.
"Stop what?" He asked as he stopped moving.
"Stop pacing around!" I rolled my eyes.
"I'm not." He shrugged.
"Oh so you were just walking around because it's fun?" I raised an eyebrow.
"No sweetheart, I'm completing my steps for the day" He said showing me a watch.
"Idiot." I mumbled.
"Oh so I'm the idiot?" He retorted.
"Ya who else?" I snapped.
"You're the one whose foot got caught under a whole ass wheel chair."
"For the last time! It wasn't my fault!" I said frustrated.
"It was mine." A booming voice declared at the door.
Derek and I whipped our head to see none other than Edward Smith himself. In all his glory.
OMG OMG OMG OMG
He was sat on his wheelchair with a plaid patterned blanket on his lower half.
The same as the interviews.
He was a very old man who looked quite sinister if I'm being honest. The white hair and beard only completed the evil grandfather look.
"Grandfather-"
"Quiet boy! I want to speak to the girl." He showed Derek a hand.
He had such a presence. Just what I'd imagined. He eyed me judgmentally.
"And who are you my dear?" He asked in a softer tone as he wheeled to my direction. "I'm quite sorry about the chair. Honestly. It's hardly ever in control."
"It's alright sir. I'm Aarushi Carson. Rue. I'm Derek's girlfriend. We began going out a month ago." I smiled as I continued using the ice pack.
"Oh I see. I'm Edward Smith." He raised an eyebrow as he looked at me with calculating eyes.
"Oh I know." I shrugged.
"You do?" He asked amused.
"Yes. I've read almost all your books. I especially liked your book on human tendencies. It was titled 'Folly Mind' I believe. It really gave me a new insight." I flashed him a tight lipped smile.
"Folly Mind? That book was discontinued because of how bad it performed. What did you like about it?" He chuckled as he eyed Derek.
"I liked the way it connected with me. In the fifth chapter of the book you wrote about having massive pride and being proud of pride. I resonate with that completely because a big share of my decisions are influenced by it." I reminisced.
