Rue's POV:
"YOU LIVE HERE?" I asked as I pointed at the mansion sized house in front of me.
It was huge Italian styled house with multiple wings and a chandelier at the entrance. The hedges looked like they were better groomed than I was.
"Yup." Derek nodded awkwardly as he parked his car.
I live 30 mins away.
"Isn't it too far from my house?"
"No. Not at all." He answered without skipping a beat.
I nodded amusedly. "Don't you get lost?"
"Lost?"
"Like, in the house."
He laughed. "You're cute. And no, I don't. It's not that big Rue." He ruffled my hair and I blew my cheeks out to avoid turning red.
"Oh please. Any second now your butler, James will ask to fetch my coat." I imitated a British accent.
He scoffed. "That is not true."
I raised my eyebrow. "Really?"
"My butler is called Colin." He smiled sheepishly as he opened the gate. "He's more of a helper with a uniform. You'll love him, trust me."
"That's what all people with brooding butlers say." I shrugged jokingly.
As soon as I stepped inside a very cute Cornelia made her way to the entrance and surrounded me with love. "If it isn't my favorite dog in the whole wide world." I cooed as I bent down to pick her up.
Her nursery was right in the center of the hall. It was cute with pink cushions, no wonder she likes Derek.
"What about me?" Derek pouted with his face beside a squealing Cornelia who was comfy in my arms.
"You're a rabid dog, jaan." I tapped his head as I moved away.
"Are you saying I'm not your favorite?" He pouted as he brought his face closer to mine.
If I could just kiss that pout.
WAIT, WHAT ON EARTH AM I SAYING.
RUE.
GET. A. GRIP.
"Let's just ignore him Cornelia." I turned around as Cornelia licked my face that was now growing red at the thoughts I just developed.
I let Cornelia go as I finally took the chance to look around the house. Just as I'd imagined, it was well curated with artistic furniture and a lot of lighting. Every spot in the house looked social media ready.
"Derek?"
"Yes, Rue the one for me?"
He can stop calling me that.
Although I don't mind it.
"I don't exactly have clothes if you know what I mean." I looked away to not be too blatant about my embarrassment.
"That's okay sweetheart." He shrugged behind me as I slowly turned around. "Clothes are overrated anyway." He whispered in a low voice.
I widened my eyes as I turned visibly red at his implied suggestion.
How. Dare. He.
Just when I was about to throw hands, he began laughing. He ran a hand through his hair and paused only to continue laughing and I stood there feeling stupid.
"You- Your face-" He broke out into laughter again.
After what seemed like days, he stopped laughing. He wiped the 'tears' from his chocolate dripping eyes and I just waited for this man to stop acting like a child.
