Vyaan (Ace):
"Before the marriage?" I ask, my voice sharp, cutting through the tension.
Rishi hesitates for a fraction of a second, just long enough to confirm what I already suspect. My fists clench tighter, and I feel the anger simmering just below the surface, threatening to explode.
He nods, eyes meeting mine, but there's no relief in the answer. "Yeah, Ace. Long before the marriage."
My blood runs cold. She's been dealing with this alone. All this time, before we were forced into this marriage, before everything between us shifted, she was already in danger. And I didn't know.
Driti. She never told me. Didn't even give me the chance to protect her from whatever sick freak was lurking in the shadows.
But now? Now she's mine-whether she likes it or not. And anyone who's a threat to her is a threat to me.
"Who the hell is he?" I growl, barely keeping myself in check.
Rishi flips through the file, eyes scanning the pages. "We're still digging, but he's good at hiding. Real good."
Not for long.
"I mean, a really good f!cking one, Ace," Rishi says, his voice taut with frustration. "He left no traces for us to check. Nothing."
His words hang in the air, feeding the fire already raging inside me. No traces? This guy's been following Driti, drugging her, and he's good enough to leave nothing behind? My jaw clenches so hard it hurts.
The frustration in Rishi's voice matches my own, but frustration won't fix this. It won't track down the b@stard who's been watching her, making her life hell.
"You're telling me there's nothing? No leads? No footage? No witnesses?" The questions pour out like bullets, each one a testament to how badly I want to get my hands on this guy.
Rishi shakes his head, flipping through the pages of the file, but it's clear he's as pissed as I am. "We've tried everything. Whoever he is, he's careful. Meticulous. He doesn't make mistakes."
I let out a slow, controlled breath, trying to keep my temper in check. "Then we make him make one." My voice is low, lethal. "And when he does, I'll be waiting."
Because this ends here. He thinks he's untouchable, that he can slip through the cracks. But I'll find him. And when I do, he'll regret ever laying eyes on her.
"What about the maid?" I ask, my voice cutting through the tension like a blade.
Rishi looks up from the file, his brow furrowed. "She's gone. Disappeared the same night Mrs. Mehra was drugged."
I let out a slow breath, trying to keep the anger at bay. "Gone?" The word feels like a joke. Like this is some twisted game that's spiraling out of my control.
