As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the festival, a shadow passed over
Elara’s heart. She noticed a few familiar faces in the crowd—members of the occult society
who had once threatened their lives.
Her pulse quickened, and she turned to Damien, her voice low. “Look over there. Do you see
them?”
Damien’s expression hardened as he followed her gaze. “I do. They shouldn’t be here.”
Elara felt a shiver of fear run down her spine. “What do we do? What if they’re planning
something?”
“We stay vigilant. We’ve overcome darkness before, and we can do it again,” Damien
reassured her, but Elara could sense the tension in his posture.
As the evening continued, the festival’s energy remained electric, but Elara’s unease
lingered. She watched the members of the society mingle among the crowd, their eyes
scanning the festivities. She felt a knot tighten in her stomach, a reminder that their past was
not completely behind them.
