Annie felt powerless again when they both got kidnapped by a demon called Meg. She knew it was gonna take time for her to get really good at being a hunter but she was growing impatient by the day.
She did help a lot when they got caught up in a case of a ghost. A Texas farmhouse known as Hell House. It was fun seeing Sam and Dean prank each other though.
At some point, while Annie was waking up, she saw Dean putting itching powder on Sam's underwear. When Dean noticed her slowly sitting up, he put his index finger on his lips. She was having so much fun with their little prank war that she decided to not tell Sam about it.
She wouldn't be able to anyways, cause when she saw him leave the bathroom only wearing a towel around his hips she felt like she forgot how to speak.
"I'll uh... I'll go... Outside..."
She left the room running so he could get dress. He didn't understand why she was in such a hurry, but he couldn't help but smile a little.
Their next case was terrifying. A spirit bonded to an old family portrait. But Annie was more worried about the little chemistry between Sam and Sarah, for some reason. He did take her on a date for the sake of the case, but then, it felt like more.
They were in the room talking about the case when Dean started to push Sam about Sarah. Annie sat quietly on the chair, her eyes on the book she was reading for research.
"Anyway, we gotta get back in and see that painting." Dean throw himself in the bed and crossed his arms behind his head, smirking.
"Which is a good thing cause you can get some more time to crush on your girlfriend."Annie felt her chest itch a little. She was starting to worry about her own health at that point.
Sam seemed impatient with Dean's words, "Dude. Enough already."
"Yeah, dude, enough already"
"What?"
"What?" Sam opened his hands above the table as if the reason for his outburst wasn't obvious, "Ever since we got here, you been trying to pimp me out to Sarah. Just back off, all right?"
"Well, you like her don't you?"
Annie quietly cleaned her throat and continued to stare at the pages, even though she wasn't reading any of the words anymore. Sam raised his arms and eyes up to the ceiling, impatiently.
"All right, you like her, she likes you, you're both consenting adults..."
"What's the point, Dean? We'll just leave. We always leave." Sam raised his voice a little, Annie looked up at him.
"Well I'm not talking about marriage, Sam. Annie, help me out here."
"Keep me out of this", She hummed, looking back at the book.
Sam ignored Dean's attempt to get Annie's support on this and just kept on talking, "You know, I don't get it. What do you care if I hook up?"
"Cause then maybe you wouldn't be so cranky all the time."
That stole a smile from Annie, but it didn't last long because now Sam was staring at her and huffing. She raised her shoulders.
"You know, seriously Sam, this isn't about just hooking up, okay? I mean, I... I think that this Sarah girl could be good for you." Sam signed and scratched his head, Dean's eyes were stuck on him while he sat back up on the bed.
"And... I don't mean any disrespect but I'm sure this is about Jessica, right? Now I don't know what it's like to lose somebody like that.... but... I would think that she would want you to be happy." he continued.
Sam goes quiet, when Annie looked up at him again, he had tears in his eyes.
"God forbid you have fun once in a while. Wouldn't she?"
"Yeah I know she would", he answered softly this time, giving Dean a half smile. "Yeah you're right. Part of this is about Jessica. But not the main part."
"What's it about?"
Sam sighed and looked up at Annie for one split second before looking away, not answering the question.
"Yeah all right. Well we still gotta see that painting, which means you still gotta call Sarah, so..."
Sam nodded and picked up the phone to call her, clearing his throat. Dean shook his head and smiled watching it, then he closed his eyes and laid back down.
"Sarah, hey, it's Sam.... Hey, hi....Good. Good, yeah. Umm. What about you?"
Dean opened his eyes and stared at Sam. Annie did the same, holding in a smile.
"Yeah good, good, really good."
"Smooth", Both Dean and Annie said at the same time, then chuckled silently.
By the end of the hunt, Sam decided to say goodbye to Sarah. With a kiss. Dean noticed Annie's face when she was standing there just watching. He picked up on it pretty quickly before she got inside the car and settled in the corner of the backseat.

Dean dropped both Sam and Annie to book a motel room and then he went to buy some food. Annie took the lead walking towards the room and got in, dropping her duffle bag on the floor.
The room had two beds and a couch, so she threw herself on the couch and stretched her legs, making Sam chuckle softly.
"Tired?"
"Yep!"
"Told you it wouldn't get any easier..."
She smiled and looked at him. He took some clothes out of his backpack.
"Sam?"
"Yeah?"
Annie slowly sat on the couch and rested her hands on her knees. "Did you like her? Sarah..."
Sam stopped what he was doing and looked at her, a question mark on his face. He breathed in and nodded. "I guess I did... But... Was never gonna work."
He raised his shoulders and put the backpack on the floor, then he walked away carrying some clothes on his hands.
"Gonna go take a shower."
Since it seemed like he was trying to avoid the subject, she just let him go.
"Okay."
But that kiss didn't leave her mind. And she hated herself for wishing it was her instead.
