I awoke in my chair was to the sound of metal on metal. The dinging started of as a slow tap, but grew louder and more frequent as I fought the pounding in my head. I tried to ignore it. I knew whatever it was couldn't have been anything good. I tried to force myself to go back to sleep, but it was a relentless tap that seemed like it wasn't going to stop until I acknowledged it. When my eyes eventually opened Gabriela was sitting in a chair so close to mine all I could smell was her perfume as it invaded my nose. I don't think I'll ever forget the smell. It'll be burned into my brain for the rest of my life. It'll be a constant reminder every time I smell it, if I ever made it out of here.

She smiled at me, bearing her teeth as she continued to tap whatever it was that she was holding. My eyes dropped to the piece of metal in her hand that she incessantly knocked on a steel tray next to her. My gaze drifted over the little metal table and the array of instruments laid out. Suddenly I wasn't tired anymore. I was the most awake I'd ever been here as fear and adrenaline course through my veins at the side of all her tools.

'Finally.' She tutted, obviously annoyed at how long it had taken for her to corral me.

'What...' Was all I managed to get out before she held a scalpel up to her lips in a motion for me to be silent.

I instantly froze in my chair, obeying her command. I didn't want to risk upsetting her and giving her a reason to use any of the new sharp devices that had arrived in my room.

'It's a good thing I got to you when I did. My brilliant plan of putting dearest daddy in the hospital was a stroke of genius.'

My heart dropped at her admission. It was her who orchestrated all of this. She hurt my dad, potentially killed him so she could what? Have Lucian? It didn't even seemed like she cared about what she'd done. The flippant way she just came out with it showed me how desensitised she'd become to this life. How she had been warped into this thing sitting in front of me. But with the scalpel still held tight in her grasp I didn't dare utter a word.

'Could you imagine if I waited until after the honeymoon. You would have been carrying his child by then and god knows what he would have done. Can you imagine the rampage? I mean, it's one thing losing you. But a wife can be replaced. I don't imagine he'd take losing a child too well. He's not the most stable person in the world as it is.' Gabriela spewed out without taking a breath or even bothering to look at me as she spoke.

She was too busy playing with her new toys, pressing them to her finger to see how sharp they were. But I couldn't focus on them anymore as my mind drifted elsewhere. It wasn't even a thought in my mind until she bought it up. How long had it been since the wedding? Over two weeks. When did I last have a period? I was late. I was never late. Every 28 days on the dot. Every 28 days until this month.

'We'd have beautiful children, don't you think?' She asked talking about her and Lucian.

When I didn't reply she snapped her head up to look at me.

'Wouldn't we?' She growled, wanting to hear me agree.

'Y...yes.' I forced past my lips, wondering if she noticed the change to my demeanour.

When she looked back down to her instruments I let out a breath, thanking god she didn't notice.

'I wonder how many he'll want.' She ponders. 'I mean I'm all for the sex, but having to push his kids out of my body... You've seen the size of him. You just know his kids are going to be just as big. Maybe I could get a surrogate or something?' She says and at this point I wonder if she's even talking to me or just thinking out loud.

It took everything in me not to scream at her. To tell her I didn't didn't want to hear it. But I held in it for the soul reason that if I pissed her off I didn't doubt she'd use those sharp tools on me. From the look of this rancid, dirty basement I just knew there had been others in here before me. She must of done this before me. For what reason, I didn't know and I wasn't about to ask as my mind kept coming back to my suspicion that there was something growing inside me.

'But you won't be around to see any of that.' She adds, bringing me back from my trance. 'Shall we have some fun now?' She asked, turning to me with a serrated knife in her hand.

'No, please.' I begged, watching as Gabriela bought the blade to my left hand.

I tried desperately to pull away from her, but my arm was tied to tightly to the chair for me to even be able to budge an inch.

'Please, you don't have to do this.'

'Oh, but I do.' She retorts as she places the knife under the engagement and wedding ring that sat on my finger.

My heart thumped in my chest as tears started to fall down my face.

'These should be mine.' She tells me in a quiet voice as he slowly pushes the tip of the blade into my fingers.

I let out a piercing scream as my skin broke, letting free a pool of deep red liquid that run down my hand. I pinched my eyes closed as I tilted my face up to the ceiling, feeling every bit of pain as the knife was pushed even further into my finger.

'Come on. It's no fun if you don't watch.' She chirped, still pushing the knife until it hit bone.

'Stop, please.' I sobbed, but it had no effect as she started to waggle to knife to push it between my knuckle and the rest of my hand.

I never experienced anything so painful in my life as another scream ripped through my body. I swayed in my chair as I went light headed and just when I thought I was going to pass out, the pain stopped as two warm hands landed on my face, cupping my cheeks.
